idk, fuck being cool. it's a good sample though. there's a das racist song that samples samurai champloo.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0ijOe3sGEkwhere Heems goes "i'm at the pizza hut / i'm at the taco bell... the combination made my eyes bleed" because it's a flip on a common misconception about their music that refutes it in itself.
i guess that makes it a pretty so-so year as far as me being impressed by rap lyrics goes. most of the stuff i see now that i like is either styles or production.
like, Death Grips was something that I almost posted in here because it sounds really fresh but I've found that it's actually kind of tiring to listen to and I don't like the lyrics as much as I initially thought I would
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhYwLDkxJYAdeath grips and maybe this guy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlaTToeWDHA are probably still the best artists in rap i found out about this year.
similarly, i checked out shabazz palaces and their sound is cool but i found that their lyrics are on some mystical wizard incense can't interpret me, i am all meanings shit. and they don't really talk about it in interviews because they're too magical for conversations. i enjoy listening to their songs a lot but i'm not inspired by them, for the most part, the artists that i find exciting are the same ones i found exciting last year.
it's been a good year for rich people rapping about being rich. in the latest Nas video, the chicago bulls logo on some kid's hat is blurred out. when it comes down to it, i will probably listen to the ocremix chrono trigger album more times than wiz khalifa. that's not a fashionable disposition, but it's the conclusion i feel most comfortable with.
