Sorry, I suppose I wasn't clear.

Ren & Stimpy under the yoke of Nickelodeon was genius and one of my favorite shows.

Ren & Stimpy post-Nickelodeon, when John K basically had full control (thereafter called Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Show") is juvenile garbage. I mean, just look at this shit.

I swear it's like the censorship of the Nickelodeon years actually forced John K & co to actually be creative and devious, rather than relying on awful sex, feces, and fart jokes.

I don't exactly relish the thought of a 100% John K produced toon.
Yeah this is precisely what I had in mind when I posted about this earlier. The new cartoons he did were just really awful. The ANIMATION was still brilliant, but the ideas were stupid. It was great when he was pushing the limits of what's acceptable for a children's cartoon, but overt references to gay sex (they're gay, and that's funny, get it?) just don't work for me. So I'm skeptical too. Hopefully he'll have better ideas with this cartoon.

Yeah, it almost seems like he became more restricted by trying to make his cartoon without restrictions, but I think is overtly crass use of that kind of stuff was more due to him not having another chance to make that particular cartoon with no holds barred.

It's not like they were even 100% prevalent in every single episode. The altruists episode is my favorite out of the bunch because it's almost entirely the kind of humor you would expect to see in the classic series. (Although I really hate that he never tried using that opportunity for re-making the "meaning of life" episode he intended for the original series, but got shot down by nick.)

The point being, unlike with ren&stimpy, this new cartoon is almost entirely from a clean slate. It's very unlikely he's just going to be crass for crassness sake, and the humor should only be uncensored enough to remain true to the ideas he had in deciding to make that cartoon in the first place. (now whether or not THOSE ideas are any good, time can only tell)

If you stop and think about how weird it is that myself and many others know exactly what you're talking about, it's kind of scary.

it's not that weird, you could name a song with a distinctive name and people into that music would know what you're talking about

but it is funny though... a cat and chihuahua in a homosexual relationship is a funny dynamic, especially since the dominant one is essentially closeted. it's also the source of what's so endearing about the two's relationship. So of course they have gay sex, and it's funny because of the characters. Also buttfuckin' is funny idc i am happy to be considered juvenile in this regard.

animals doing exaggerated people-things is funny. this has been the source of a lot of humor in cartoons for a very long time.

Quick question. Is it homophobic to be disgusted by gay sex? I heard a comedian say "Just because I'm disgusted by the thought of my parents having sex doesn't mean I don't love them. "

Thought it was an interesting point. Disgusted is a pretty strong word though.

Just a question and not necessarily my opinion so don't jump on me in furious anger

i thought about it a bit, and yes, it's definitely homophobic. especially if being told that it is homophobic makes you a little pissed off. the thing the comedian said is stupid and doesn't matter.

if you just have a visceral reaction like "gross" then it's just not for you, which is perfectly fine. i don't think it makes you homophobic unless you go around telling gay people that you're disgusted at the thought of their intimacy.

so w/e, some people find some sexual acts gross, some other people find them appealing.

I actually liked that there were deliberate connotations to the effect of their having a sexual/romantic relationship. there was a complex dynamic going on despite it being subtle. which is why I hated the overt gay sex scenes of the Adult Party cartoons, that almost seems like it was made for dudes who saw the original cartoon and thought "huh? they gay or somethin?" so that they now can go "LMAO YEA THEY TOTALLY GAY". so then it becomes funny for the same reason that the guy from Jackass drinking his own piss is funny. it turned something interesting into something cheap that utilizes people's latent homophobia.

I'm not saying that this is your train of thought, and don't let me stop you from thinking something is funny, but it's just that it seems like that's what those jokes were designed for, and that's probably why a lot of people laughed. (ha ha homosexuals)

As long as you're not really REPULSED by it beyond what's reasonable (you said "disgust is a strong word", so I guess you really mean something like "I definitely don't want to do that myself") then that's just sexual preference. But it sort of depends. Are you as disgusted by it as you would be if you saw e.g. bestiality, or scat? Because if that's the case then yeah that sounds like homophobia to me. And it's like Diet said, if you are disgusted by it then keep it to yourself, live and let live. That's good enough.

Hey, be as disgusted as you like, just don't try to deny me civil rights - directly or indirectly.

I'm way more offended by outright mockery or advocating inequality than I am by you thinking "gross, bumsex" or whatever. However I do not speak for ALL THEM GAYS lol, so probably best not to publicly proclaim disgust to all and sundry.
