I think its because we come from a different up-bringing.
you don't know anything about my upbringing.
This is funny to me because a while back someone on Reddit told me I'm "too childish to consider anything other than what I was told by my gender studies professors."

Me. Who never went to college or university. (Well, I went to college for half a year to learn marketing/design stuff but that doesn't count.)

then again socceristhebest attends university iirc and that just kinda devalues the whole higher learning thing to me personally.
ahaha yes, absolutely. I've met tons of people who went to university and are complete idiots. It means nothing, really. I'm just really glad, and lucky, to do the kind of work that doesn't really require it. Tons of examples of extremely smart people who never did higher education too, I think Noam Chomsky actually didn't have any credentials whatsoever when he started working on linguistics at MIT.

What I said that you quoted doesn't have shit to do with college and it was not a reference to a college education so I dunno why you're both stroking your own dicks about it. I mean its good you're doing good but I didn't assume you went to college I thought dada did but I wasn't talking about that?

What I meant was I'm sure both of you weren't brought up in a place where 8/10 people are homophobic racists that strain slurs on a day to day basis and hearing the word fuck shit damn hell from toddler on up and being expected not to say it too. I kind of fought off the intolerance and kept the cursing though because I like using it for emphasis and I can tell if someone is listening to what I'm saying or judging me on how I say it by that and I can kind of figure out if they're worth my time or not that way. I don't just walk around slinging curse words but if I got something to say and feel its necessary or funny I do it without hesitation. Like I'm not using that to enable me but its kind of difficult when there aren't that many REAL LIFE PHYSICAL people around you that think the same way you feel like an oddball and you're doing something wrong even though it isn't.

They ignore white people or atleast they ignored me. And a dude that used to live there that worked with me and had his kid abducted from him by his ex russian wife who ran to japan because of their native extradition laws told me they fucking hate gaijin. But he's pretty hateful towards japan because of the whole affair. Dudes fifty and watches anime and says some of the most horrid shit about japan. I guess its mostly because of his kid though.

I didn't get the feeling that they didn't like me or didn't welcome me, just that they weren't interested or didn't really care. But I only talked to a handful of different people too so. Just didn't have anyone approach me or ask questions but I think thats how they kind of are? Anti-social on a general level?

I know it sounds bad but white mexicans on tv throw me off. I'm not talking about partially white or half-white but whiiiitteeee, like middle class idaho family of four leave it to beaver white people on tv doing the news and commercials and shit in totally fluent spanish. I guess i'm just not used to seeing it. And american football with mexican commentators.

And we have a blaxican on here, he's the first blaxican I have ever seen and its kind of unusual. I know other countries have minorities like that but I've never seen that in mexico. Like, mexico/japanese/german mixes like that I just never realized would be so strange? Though I prolly shouldn't assume that because mexico and germany are kind of culturally diverse I think.

Oh and mexican tv is so fucking sexist. Its pretty hilarious in a fucked up way. Every attractive female on any infomercial/news program/sports program/soap opera is wearing practically nothing and on the news/sports/infomercials when doing anything physical the camera men close in on the ass and legs and tits all the time. I was watching some ESPN ripoff sports presentation and it went from two dudes talking about soccer or football in spanish to immediately zooming out from some chick's tits who was jumping rope to three girls in short ass boy shorts and open shirts jumping rope and talking about jumping rope or how to correctly jump rope.

Also even when the news is just showing people around different cities/beaches ect. The women are wearing practically nothing all the time ie: bikinis and boyshorts. I dunno if its a culture/climate thing or what. Thats why I want to go to mexico and actually see if they dress like that all the time.

No I was there for about seven months off an on.

Its just if you're sitting on a subway or bus or a resturaunt or bar you're usually bound to end up talking with a stranger like that especially if you're really young (I was 19 and it was me and my buddy most of the time) living and working in a foreign country and curious. Like, I'll fly around the states and stuff and I'll eventually have someone ask me about what I do or where I'm going just out of curiousity. When I was in london (I was only in london for like 11 hours) I was with my co-workers and we had several different people talking to us one was a railway operator and another british dude just sitting on the train heard us talking about looking for stuff to go see and he was telling us about shit in london.

Small talk, stuff like that. Happened in japan very few times I was there. Maybe its just the way I carried myself then compared to now though. But even if you just watch how people move around from place to place over there its very automated and non-communicative. They all are either messing with their psps/iphones/ipods and rarely talk to each other if anyone else.

I actually was watching a documentary on either japan or china (I think it was japan though) and it specifically talked about how the people are like that. I'm not trying to confuse the two but from what I understand they're both similiar like that but I haven't been to china yet. Dada would prolly know better though since he's going for tourist reasons and we were just going when we were off work to go drinking and see what we could.

I'm thinking about going to mexico on my off time in a couple months. I'm trying to go somewhere near Ciudad Del Carmen. Because if they send me back out here to work again I can fly out to work and then get them to drop me off in del carmen when I get off and then go where I want and fly myself home.

I'm thinking about one of these three places: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playa_del_Carmen
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holbox
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Escondido,_Oaxaca

They all seem pretty cool though. Holbox seems the most interesting because there are no cars or roads there and you stay in one small hotel or some straw huts on the beach and can swim with whale sharks.

I could get a hotel in playa and then just go to holbox for the day and come back. Puerto Escondido seems cool because pretty much everything is there and it doesn't seem as expensive as cancun or acapoco would be.

I'm gonna try to get one of my friends to go with me or something or maybe I'll run into a good girl between now and then because I hate going places like that by myself. I like mexico alot though, the people are generally very friendly and outgoing, the foods good, and the women/landscape are beautiful. Plus they don't have this biased against americans like some places do. They actually seem especially friendly towards americans.

all the cool people are dropouts anyway. albert einstein dropped out of high school, kanye west dropped out of college, etc.

good thing about being an artist/designer-type is that the only thing that matters is raw talent and an impressive portfolio. believe it or not i actually get the occasional e-mail from folks who've seen my pixeljoint or tumblr accounts or even phone calls from past clients and i have to turn them down because i'm busy enough as it is. granted im still poor atm, but then i've yet to REALLY take this shit as seriously as i should.
Don't say no, just say "yes, but in two months" or something, otherwise they'll think you're actually out of the market or not very professional at running your business and organizing your time.

Well, that's not the same thing as my experience. The main difference is probably that I speak the language a little bit so whenever I go somewhere I can actually communicate with them in a meaningful way, which means they don't have to worry about having to put effort into helping someone who can't even speak. Yesterday evening I was at a takoyaki bar and had lots of fun talking to the people there.

There are stories about how if you go on a train, nobody will sit next to you even if the train's crowded. Those are just not true, at least in my case. People handing out leaflets on the street will ignore you but that's because they're told to, since foreigners don't know the language and just want a shiny leaflet, so there's not much of a point.

In some cases people actually specifically singled me out to say hello or good day. In general, I think the idea that Japan doesn't like foreigners comes from people who don't put a lot of effort into trying to fit in.

Exactly.

man, you need to give me more tips on "the biz." im not very good at this. like that one time you told me artist/designers generally charge like 10-15 euro an hour meanwhile i got paid 300 bucks for a months worth of work. im dumb as heck. *_*
It's more like 30-40, if not more. Really depends on the job though. Let me know if you ever get a professional offer, we can look at it together and devise how to respond and what to quote. This happens to a lot of starting designers and artists by the way. I bet the art colleges don't even have business lessons.

Yeah it was probably mostly from the language barrier. I was trying to pick up a little japanese but not hard enough and I learn faster from actually speaking to people of the language than studying it. I have to hear shit to learn it pretty much, I can read and learn but it takes me longer because I have to invision it.

But thats how the mexicans treat me, they talk to me all the time and tell me stuff about mexico and teach me spanish because I know a good bit and want to learn more.

Nah I was talking to one of my mexican/american buddies yesterday about going to mexico because I wanted to go. He told me just stay away from any of the border towns or big port towns (towns with alot of shipping Veracruz and Alkamira pretty much) and if I go to mexico city I only have to worry about getting mugged or ripped off (I'm not going there).

I'm staying near where I'm at which is an oil town with good population of working americans like myself and near cancun which isn't dangerous at all (I've been told).

They def told me don't drive to mexico in my car or I'll get killed before I get a hundred miles in.

Thats part of not wanting to go alone though. Unless I'm pretty familiar with the place (I could still get around japan) its good to have someone else around to watch your back. I can take care of myself but I can't see behind me either.

like someone squirted a whole bunch and it didn't get off of the lid and they just left it there and then it turned into ketchup-jelly
