yeah that sounds great if you don't know anything about how shitty crippling debt can make the rest of your life
Our system doesn't leave graduates with "crippling debt" thankfully. It leaves them with a loan which they never have to repay, which the government syphons off a tiny fraction of your wages to go towards, and only IF you earn a certain amount of money.
I currently have around £48k worth of debt based around higher education. I pay maybe £200 a year off that? It in no way cripples me, nor does it any graduate under our system thankfully.
I have many OTHER crippling debts however which aren't specifically related to higher education, which have been accrued following other forms of self-improvement or enjoyment. I don't regret them either because they did indeed involve self-betterment, or I enjoyed the shit out of what I used the money for.
I'd always advocate spending money to enjoy your life OR gain more qualifications (even if they are self-indulgent) at the expense of immediate financial stability. Plus it gives you an addition number of years to decide what you actually want to DO with your life, rather than just immediately and suddenly being an adult and having to work.
