And here's a quick edit I made to show silhouettes and smaller sizes:

I like them all but the top one stands out the most to me, since joysticks/gamepads are pretty common logos.

Same, although the silhouetted version of it looks weird in all but the smallest size. It's the only one that implies some sort of commerce. What are the red triangles for?

Us Posters Know it's the top one! dunno the significance of the silhouettes but agree the box looks odd in the largest one.

I like them all, but the third one is my favourite in the first set. However, it's my LEAST favourite when it comes to the silhouette, because it's much harder to make out that it's a gamepad. In that case, the second one. Although I DO love the third one in the colour-wise section!!

yeah, surely the D-pad & buttons could be cut out from the silhouette version..?

Yeah, the silhouettes I threw together really quickly and aren't the best. They could be improved. I think I'm going to investigate the first one a bit more though. I sent some feedback to the guy making them and hopefully I'll have some variations to share shortly.

They don't exactly go amazingly with your layout and they're a bit web 2.0 and I'm not sure what version of the web we're on right now but beveled text with iPhone-app-logo refections on are on the way out. I guess, look at Bandcamp for a good example of what people would expect in a site logo?

Typographically, the solid font you have on the homepage right now is fine. I feel what you are looking for is an accompanying ident to sit to the left which ideally would be some form of game controller. The cable encircling the controller in (3) does not scale well, perhaps a plain solid circle with a clear controller body with solid buttons?

idk I like the storefront less literal. either the original version or the bottom one. I really don't like the unaligned reflections and the bottom grey bar in the new ones.

ya. imo they look good as splash screens but not sure how they fit in elsewhere. dunno about bandcamp, but everyone is doing that simple typeface with a color and maybe a little image cue. last.fm vine.co. dunno if that's a good thing to replicate or not.

Well if you aren't going to steal Bandcamp's method of iconography, then you should at least steal their slogan by replacing the word "music" with "game". I am pretty sure it's the slogan that's drawing them all in anyhow.

My vote in round two goes for the bottom one. Having a literal storefront be the iconic representation of an entirely digital one is just confusing.

I like the bottom one also out of the new ones.

Although, not for the confusion or whatever. I just think it looks sleeker and more aesthetically appealing!

this is off topic but you should really drop the word "indie". It has as many negative connotations nowadays than positive.

the reason why I don't really like the first one (out of round 1) is because the silhouette is "inside out". the second one has a nice, recognizable silhouette (there are other controller logos but this one is particularly nice imo).

same for round two, I think the bottom one is very nice because it's nice and simple, and to the point. a problem with the third one is you can't reduce the logo to a silhouette.

The bottom one of round 2 works better for a silhouette like everyone says. Also, when designing a logo, I imagine you want 3 things: simplicity (which makes it 'elegant'), memorability (so people remember you exist), and uniqueness (so people can differentiate you from other similar services).

To top it off, its fairly pleasing to the eye.

Thanks for the feedback. I do like the original one better than these. I think the addition of the door makes it too complex. In the last one I think the store concept is lost entirely without something to outline the building. I can't think of any other variations he could do to the original to point him in the right direction though.

One thing I will do is ask him to design logo on top of this background image from my site: http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/itchio/static/images/stock.jpg

Can you elaborate? Where are there negative connotations. What should I say instead? Just "game developers"? I think that's too broad. I am trying to appeal to the smaller groups/individuals.

I like the first one, two shades of a colour on the awning looks better to me than alternating with white

I like the first one also. The second one seems too COLOUROUS if you get what I mean, like jarring, and the third, while I think it's good, looks slightly more clinical than the first. The first has just the right amount of colour combo-ness.

Same, the first one has the right colors and right balance.
