looks great ed! recalls a certain foget cheese meme circa 2003

I got to review the games that made threads earlier, but I didn't want to repost em here unless I got around to reviewing all of em. sorry!

top 3: Mystery Channel, 4-Lung, Death by Pistol 2000

I found DBP2000 to be a pretty ambitious jam game! one of the better halloween themes, good music and graphics. ball needs to come to a stop more quickly, maybe have a higher minimum velocity when it's not going up a hill. it also took me a while to figure out how to hit the ball with any power. maybe it's just because I'm using a touch pad and the jiggle mouse/mash keys strategy was unavailable, but on-screen instructions couldn't hurt!

everyone did a pretty great job I think, I enjoyed the unfinished games a lot too. crack open a bucket of pumpkin moonshine yall.

Will maybe post more indepth when I'm home but really liked death by pistol as well just for the spooky 3d diorama situation backdrop... Can't figure out how to power the ball...
Cactus city road was very laggy on my comp but I liked the fhashlight! The movement being screen instead of character relevant kind of confused me esp with al the flashlight spinning. V spooky

My favourites are pumpkin moonshine, furlong boy and guanas skull based puzzler which I got really into. Shout outs also to al other games but esp witchking, lime train, gods17s game that I forget the name of and zombie one. Sick!! Disgusting!! You should all go to prison!!

This shouldn't change anything but just so you know, for Death by Pistol the controls are click + drag the mouse to adjust power. Release to take the shot.

Also, hold ESC to try to escape if you dare...

You can also pan the camera with RMB.

We had real trouble getting the ball physics to behave like a golf ball on a putting green.

Maybe if we make it again then we'll make our own linear decay ball physics.

Pumpkin Moonshine http://saltworld.net/forums/topic/14153-pumpkin-moonshine/

I made posts v. clearly in these... tho the rest:

Guana - Puzzle Hell - graaaagh!!! ~~>8^8 im not really a good fit for these puzzle games... i bet its good but you might as well call me BIAS BUDDY and call it a day/ i cant say much criticism etc... maybe polish esthetics etc maybe musik etc but otherwise i look glowingly on this beautiful skeleton baby...

2000 Pistol - aaa who would had thought?? a suprise skirsmish from behind...! i did enjoy the graphics like many noted here but i had to quit in frustration after half an hour with the absolute failure of getting into any of the holes/uphill, plus the ball takes all the juices out of u/infinity to arrive... shit, do i already have to buy a new gaming machine? what a failure i am... also really liked the lights/somehow Runescape esthetics with LBA light in a good way

Ghost by Choice ... and apparently so is the .dll! its up to you player to find out the missing dll and fix this bad boy for once and for all! what is your High Chore? mine is two execs, then giving up... i bet the game is really fucking good but you did this dll to make it impossible... why!! youre too shy man, maybe you are afraid of succes and admitting that your game is actually really good? maybe next time...

That tank game dunno the name - hell yeah!! its me, bonzi bully, with my shitty reviews! i can see someone coming from new grounds to Flash his new exotic skills in these times of Unity (hah...hah... HAH!!!!) ... its a nice good game probably but my laptop touchpad is totally improper for playing this... i swear i accidentally ended up zooming in to the guys penis in the heat of the moment or something, you know... that stuff is giving me nightmares... mouse is thrillingly recommended

Lime Express - whoa!! Unt is coming out of woodwork and- shit i can't do this, all must have been said already... your game is warmingly good but i did like the windows 95 esque screensaver world towards the end, only a proper ending to this hellxperience... myrsderious... you should crawl outta ya daft punk helmet and do stuff like dese more...

ECLIPSE - A total eclipse of my heart!! I thought i had written for this...? *looks away from camera to someone, mumbling, more mumbling, someone waves in the darkness* - Well uh, yeah Rock and roll hallelujah, cos this game was kinda fun!! i did what catas did, i walked around... actually i didnt know how to shoot in the first place so i marvelled and walked around... was cautios for mysteriously appearing zombs... in the end the central park or whatever area was so full of zombies that the game started lagging and i was sure i saw smoke coming out of laptop... good rollicking music...

--

All in all, top 3 goes to Decadencia, 4-Lung Boy, Mystery Channel, and if we really REALLY had to vote in numbers then i guess you could marginally place them in order?? of 1.fourlunger 2. mystery c 3.decadent but not doing so eagerly...

but I have to clarify that I played all the games and I actually liked all of them?? Don't mistake my above harsh or lacking words for the lack of affection... I think i thought lot about these games afterwards that would make maybe boring/redundant posts and this scoring needs to get done now... eg. pumpkin gets a close shave to top 3 and wizard and triple treat could be best friends and others i liked as a experience and as a piece of work someone shed tears for... i liked the tight-knitness of this, i liked the creations... i take this as a success...

i've found myself with a massive lack of time to properly play through these games so i'm gonna just play them all quickly and type up some stream of conciousness afterwards:

Eclipse: i shot up a truly astounding amount of zeds. quick round of the block and then the hell park in the middle. second level, took on a big trail as I circle strafed around the desert, pretty therapeutic at this point. the last level was very mysterious and maybe wasn't the last level at all? good job guy

kissing WiZaRd: fuckin BALLER icon dude. very enjoyable having this .exe in a folder. my turntable is a bit mis-calibrated and occasionally touched a record spinning round (with the tonearm up) which added to the manic bit-crushed title screen. i immediately went left, bad idea! round 2: went right and ended up in null_8.txt. round 3: played for a bit longer but ended up in null_1.txt. I think maybe i downloaded the wrong version of this? YOUR MUSIC: fuckin cool dude because it reminded me of being in a busy arcade on the seaside, overwhelmed by jingle hell.

Mystery Channel: this modular game idea is really great, and feels very salty. i got chance to play two of them, notk2 and pjrip, i loved the idea of slowly controlling all descending hell upon a city in notk2. favourite part of pjrip is the text describing the murderers crawling through vents and the text being so squashed up and creEePy. i'm explaining this too much. really cool how the player has to put in the effort to create the atmosphere in their head, mr boring mc stale could just hold arrow keys and get nothing from this but the music, text and grafix were workin g in tandem to the whole...unsettling feeling. keep pumping out these vignettes.

SHIT I GOTTA SLEEP

Pumpkin Moonshine: i'm sorry dude i really wanted to play this more but i found it pretty hard (shouldn't have gone in cold i guess) just wanted to dig everything but failed to do so. great music and greater sfx. i liked the fact that i wasn't punished for falling into spikes cause boy..... they a lot of em. i know there's more to this game so don't "take" this "personally"!

puzzle dream: gee golly i really enjoyed this game. i only got to level 4 but thought it was very clever how you programmed the solution checking. i think i'll finish this tomorrow! top thumbs up to the secret commands.

The Witch King of Decadencia: oh wow i am so rushed right now I can't take all of this in but i really love it! your writing style is great, succint and very powerful. the images really bring the story to life and i love the setting

I know I haven't played them all so far and you're gonna give awards now but still I''m gonna get round to playing the rest tomorrow and don't worry about counting any votes from me, i just wanna share some words. thanks for all the kind things said about lime xpress, i read them all and finally thought "this game making thing aint too bad ya know" for once... just as i started a 9 to 5 full time. oh well! see ya later gaming world!

edit: counting is hard work best left to the professionals

regardless I just wanna say you guys are great and everyone who took part is v. salt and deserves to feel good about themselves

Also it means a lot to me that a bunch of y'all liked my thing

on that note, I don't mind organizing the next jam (christmas?) if noone else steps up. I miiiiight just even make a prize 4 the lucky winner . . . !

I tabulated them last night also and come up with different numbers indicating that Four Lung Boy wins by one vote, although, I will do a recount using Excel on my lunch break and we will see, you may well be right.

Here's the contents of the crude Notepad file I was using thus far:

A GHOST BY CHOICE
DEATH BY PISTOL 2000 T
KISSIN' WIZARD
ECLIPSE
LIME XPRESS
4-LUNG BOY N J W O G B M T C BB
TREAT FIGHTER: TRIPLE TREAT
PUMPKIN MOONSHINE N J W D M C
PUZZLE DREAM C
CACTUS CITY ROAD
MYSTERY CHANNEL N J O G D B M T BB
WITCH KING OF DECADENCIA W O G D B BB

Given that the voting is over I can reveal my (inconsequential) faves were: Witch King, 4-Lung Boy and Pumpkin Moonshine.

I'll post full reviews and aggregated reviews of this jam in a new topic. I will also host a zip file containing all the games so that in the distant future after the war we can log on and view our gems.

woah crazy tie!  must saw foget in half i guess.  i don't even know who foget is.  can someone direct me to some kind of information on this foget anyway?

Also, and more importantly, as neuro was saying, this jam was a fantastic time.  I had a great time examining the shapes of the splatter marks of everyone's creative juices, and hopefully a few of you mine.  the attitudes of people and vibes in the air of this forum are super rad.  I know I came for the jam, but I'll be hanging around if you all would have me.

Cheers to all!

Edit: oh wait, i missed the carion post... a not tie?

yeah i just did a recount... looks like four lung just squeaked right in with 1+ votes, but I'm no official counter.

he's a character from arcade game Blue's Journey that Gaming World (saltw ancestor) liked a bunch and made into a lot of emoticons like a decade ago
