Greetings from Finland......

As most of you probably noticed GW was down most of yesterday and a part of today, which also affected IRC since people couldn't connect to irc.whahay.net since the DNS was down as well. I contacted our provider earlier today, and they've been working on fixing the issue ever since.

After some investigation the problem seemed to be a broken CPU fan of the server. Our provider first suspected a bad power cable and the power supply, and tried to replace them as well, which didn't fix the problem though (this is why the server was up for 5-10 mins couple of times before, but crashed right after). The CPU fan has been replaced now, and everything's good. Now many of you probably have thought of the possibility what I'm going to tell you now. It's very likely that the slowdowns we've been experiencing in past couple of months were caused by this. A malfunctioning/broken CPU fan can really stress the system and slow it down a lot (trust me, I know from experience). Let's hope that the replaced CPU fan will help the whole server run more efficiently and without problems.

If the IRC server is still not working for you, it's because your computer and/or ISP has cached irc.whahay.net. You shouldn't worry as it shouldn't take long until it resolves again. If you're having this problem but still want to use IRC, you can connect using the IP instead: 72.20.48.35

Man, my conspiract theory about the site being down so you guys could put GW6 up just went down the toilet

Wow, I become a premium for one day, and GW starts falling apart... Good thing you got it fixed....

Man, I thought that GW had been BLOCKED by the network here. I was pretty pissed off. It's good to know that the whole site was down, instead!

If you need donations or anything for MORE RELIABLE servers or something, don't hesitate to hit me up for some dough...

We aren't changing servers, and I'm pretty sure that the broken CPU fan was the source of most of the problems we've been experiencing. It could happen with any company.

But if you want to donate some money, you can donate for my personal booze money collection (although I haven't made a donate button yet).
