Summary from Wiki, "On August 10th, 2010, a.t.b., the Holy Empire of Britannia overpowered Japanese forces and conquered the country with their robotic weapons, the Knightmare Frames, in less than a month. Japan lost its freedom and rights and was renamed Area 11, and the Japanese people are renamed "Elevens" and forced to survive in ghettos, while Britannians live in first-class settlements. Rebel elements persist, however, as pockets of Japanese organizations struggle against the Empire for the independence of Japan.

After his father, the Emperor of Britannia, did nothing to pursue the terrorists who murdered his mother and crippled his sister, a young boy named Lelouch vowed to destroy Britannia. Seven years later in Area 11, he encounters a mysterious girl who gives him the power of the Geass. With it, he finally has the power that he needs to defeat Britannia and fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister can live happily."

I'm on episode 14, this show is awesome.  Very deep and compelling story.  There is mech action--mech are called "Knightmares"-- and though its an important part of the show it doesn't eclipse story, character development, etc. like Gundam or other mech shows.

Comes highly recommended.. it can be downloaded from (am I allowed to say?).

Got no interest in the show. :/ The only thing I liked about is the opening, coincidentally done by one of my favourite J-Bands (FLOW), but the mech aspect turns me off. I'll look up reviews about it, I guess.

Plus no, can't link.

I think Code Geass was the second best series of fall/winter 2006, only second to Death Note. It's going to continue later this year.

everyone should watch it. :rite:

I don't know if this is true but I'm pretty sure there's going to be a new season too. I read that somewhere but it might have been a rumor. I can't see Code Geass ending in two episodes though, there are so many unresolved things.

I agree with you here.  CODE GEASS is one of the best series that I've seen, and by far the best series of the year (GEASS > Death Note and Kanon IMO).  Lelouch is certainly one of the top heroes in any media, acted or animated, with his idealism, his weaknesses as a human, AND a determination to accomplish his dreams through any mean instead of the conventional "I will do my best and save everyone and it will somehow work out."

Pizza Hut paid to advertise in the show, so there are many scenes involving pizza from Pizza Hut (complete with the Pizza Hut logo).  Since one of the main characters is a pizza lover, the logo shows up in almost every episode.

I'm a Goro Taniguchi fanboy (loved Infinite Ryvius, Planetes), so I guess by extension that makes me a bit of a Code Geass fanboy. I acknowledge that it is pretty much pulp fiction and the plot development isn't quite fluid, but it's very entertaining nonetheless. Regardless of whether you thought Episode 22 was tripe or brilliant, Episode 23 was extremely solid (probably the best episode so far), and I can't wait for the last two episodes of the first season.

EDIT: Also, I love this picture:

There's like a bilion fan made OPs on Youtube where people used different songs and slapped it on various footage of the series (like an amv). Some are really cool or funny.

Anyway Code Geass was really good until ep 22. Then it turned to utter crap. It's a prime example of using a crappy plot device for shock effects and tragedy. Very bad writing. Very disappointing because it could have been really good but all ruined by the usual "if it's not shocking and/or characters don't get kill off it's no good" attittude that has ruined more fictional stories than I could possibly count and has led to about a billion bad anime/manga endings.
