A lot of people are guessing Megaman is going to be in this Wednesday (a day before E for All). There's a cryptic message posted on Capcom's website that reads:

http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/news.php/2007/10/10/prepare_yourself

A bunch of people are guessing the second line says "prepare yourself for a fight" or "prepare yourself for a brawl" which makes sense if you think about the title. Probably has nothing to do with Megaman, but we can always hope. There's supposed to be a Capcom conference this Wednesday I believe. Maybe we'll hear something then.

EDIT: Also found a timer to go with this: http://www.capcom-unity.com/

No way in hell.
I'll be plum surprised if Megaman is included before December, if at all. I'd love to see him, but it seems strange that Sonic, an obviously more popular character, would be announced first, if both are going to be at E for All.
Also, that timer looks very un-brawl. But I have to admit, my fingers are crossed.

I definitely agree with you and I highly doubt it has anything to do with Smash. It's more likely some PS3 game since Capcom was saying how they're losing their PS3 fanbase. One of their comments was something along the lines of, "just wait until next week" and I think it's referring to some PS3 game (something about planets or space or some crap, I can't remember...which would explain the planet background on the countdown).

Still, I'm hoping Mega makes it.

Lost Planet...that's the name of the game I was thinking of.

Mysterious countdown fueled by a company comment may suggest a PS3 exclusive to be revealed next week.

Okay so maybe that title was a tad exaggerated. But if you were to view the official Capcom-Unity website you would see a large earth-like sphere under the title "PREPARE YOURSELF," accompanied by a countdown which is set to run out early next week.

While pure speculation at this point, the large planet in the background may suggest a sequel to this year's Lost Planet for the Xbox 360 and PC. There's obviously something going on in the Capcom planning room, as the Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Research (try typing a time or two) replied to a post on its official forums concerning Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii: "Capcom is losing fans. They obviously don't care for their PS3-owner fans." Svensson replied, "Let's see how they [PS3 owners] feel at the end of next week about us."

Anyone else kind of less interested with the dojo now? I think I was kind of just waiting for Sonic, and now that we have him, I almost didn't stay up for an update.

I am happy everytime one of the dumber character suggestions gets deconfirmed though. I was really happy to find out Advance Wars and Gardevoir from pokemon were assists.
It's too bad about Lil Mac though, he would've made an awesome character.

Yeah, I'm slightly less interested. I don't think we'll be seeing any good updates for a while. I'm guessing they'll just post all of the stuff we've seen from the videos (ATs, items, Pokemon, Norfair, Final Smashes) so I anticipate the next few updates being pretty boring.

I'm waiting until October 18th for E for All. A bunch of pro smashers from L.A. are going and by this Thursday, I'll know if wavedashing and l-cancelling are still in Brawl. There are rumors going around that l-cancelling is now automatic (Bowser recovers very quickly from his aerial attacks) and that wavedashing has been removed (stated by some guy who works for Jeux-France...not sure how good he is at WDing in the first place) so I'm somewhat disappointed, but I'll wait until the professional players give their reports.

I'm pretty sure Wavedash is still in (someone on SRK said so, mind you this is a guy "in the know) and L-Cancel isnt because of what you said.

I don't really like the MOTHER/Earthbound games, but a stage as huge as this one surely is cool!

New Pork City looks good, I'm glad we finally have a really big stage.
The chimera is a killjoy though, it looked like a tournament passable stage for a minute.

Here's the link to the article about the one dude I was talking about: http://www.nsider2.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22192

Do you happen to have the SRK link? I'd love to read exactly what the guy said.

Oh, and this new stage is meh. I was never a fan of Hyrule Temple in Melee and this one is supposed to be just as big. It looks a bit better in terms of layout but the colors make it a pain on the eyes. It's like the Fountain of Dreams for Brawl.

I think Eric's right about the banning thing. No way would they allow a stage that can randomly kill you regardless of your damage. I'm hoping Brawl will let you take out random things like this but that probably won't happen.

No he isn't, the game hasn't even had a public beta and you are already thinking of banning stuff? Melee=/=Brawl. They are more then likely working on items being more balanced (hello mr. exploding random crate of doom that pretty much got items banned) so that Final Smashes can be used...since they seem to be pretty NEW and innovate the gameplay. The only reason a stage should ever be banned is because you can go around in a circle in it forever, I think that if you can't play on a stage cause you are not aware of your environment it is because you do not have enough skill to overcome the environment. That chimera is fucking huge, probably slow, and very obvious. If you get killed by it, you more than likely deserved it.

Hell, half the stages in Melee that arent banned aren't even neutral stages and favor characters, its not like they just ban stages for some random / favorable elements.

Regardless, how about you wait til more than like....50 people play the game before you start calling bans.

Trust me, anything that has a random element to it will get banned. I understand items were mostly banned due to the exploding crates/barrels and whatever else, but stages are not affected by items so it's safe to say that stages with random elements will be banned (this new Mother stage, Halberd with the giant laser, and whatever else there may be). And although the stages in melee aren't neutral and may favor certain characters, counterpicking prevents giving one player an advantage over another. There's nothing that can prevent you from getting your ass kicked by some random obstacle in a stage though, so unless people happen to change how they feel about random things screwing up gameplay, they will be banned.

You don't need to play the game to see how something random could completely screw a better player over.

A better player is aware of his environment and makes the random not so random.

The problem is, the smash community is so dumb, they just ban random stuff no matter what.

Super Turbo is one of the greatest competitve fighting games, and it is the mother of all fucking random games too. Almost everything does random damage, you get randomly dizzied, throws do random damage, etc. Yet it is the greatest competitve fighting game pretty much (still gets tournaments after nearly 20 years (i think its 18 or so for ST)) and why is that? Because the ST players can actually pay attention to their fucking environment and don't let random shit fuck them over.

edit: oh yeah nice to know you can see into the future too Sarhan. Items weren't banned in Melee at first because they wanted to see how they went. It took several several player hosted tournaments, a mix of West and East coast rules before they even became banned. What makes you think they're just gonna go WTF BAN at the start? Only dumb people apply previous game knowledge on a completely new game when it comes to fighting games. THEN AGAIN IT IS SMASH COMMUNITY SO

The entire Smash community goes against everything dude. They banned a couple stages just cause some characters were too good on them (go read Playing to Win motherfuckers), items I can kind of understand just cause of the way the exploding shit worked, but that isn't in Brawl at all, so why not give them a chance? We don't even know much about how these stages are going to affect play so why are you even thinking about banning them when you haven't even played the fucking game and learned how its going to play.

I agree with you there to some degree, but it still won't change things. If that wasn't the case for Melee, it won't be for Brawl and I'm glad that it's going to be that way.

I may fall into the "dumb smasher" category, but I'd personally much rather focus on the fight instead of having to worry about dodging random obstacles. It's not hard to avoid them but I still like to concentrate on the fight.

EDIT: Oh, and FUCKING SHIT PISS BALLS. I wanted to swear and show my anger online too.

You're not a dumb Smasher, you just need to learn to focus on more than a paultry fight. A fight in a fighting game is never just about the fight. You have to deal with your opponent on a physical level as well, mind games, footsies, etc while all part of the fight require to think on stuff besides the fight like your environment and what the other guy is thinking.

There is the fight, and then there is the stuff that controls the fight, and it is generally a good idea to have your eye on both.

If the Chimera is really a killjoy why can't you just go away from it? I mean, didn't Sakurai say that there's a lot of freedom in New Pork City? Then that means that there's other places to fight in, not just where the Chimera will go.

I'm not sure, but maybe you should remember dodging. Nevertheless, we'll see when the game comes out. Otherwise, I like the update.
