yeah i would've bought a coheed shirt if i had the money but i spent most of it on water and an ELLIOTT SMITH WAS MURDERED shirt instead :(

also couch it's not TERRIBLE but in comparison to pretty much the entire rest of the album it is rather weak.

No way man, it is just different.  It is not DARK AND EPIC like the rest of it but it is still pretty badass and original imo.

I stood a foot away of that guy at a comic convention while he was walking to do a panel on Amory Wars.

I really like this song.  This gets me really pumped for the record for sure, Claudio's voice is great on it.

I like Coheed and Cambria a little bit, but I think I'm probably of the opposite persuasion as the rest of you!  That makes me NOT A REAL FAN, I guess, and one of those people that ruins a band's underground credibility as they are propelled to stardom.

Blood Red Summer is my favorite Coheed and Cambria song, so if that's their version of pop, I hope that they get as poppy as they possibly can.

Honestly, the whole track feels a little rushed.  There are no epicly smooth transitions a la The Crowing!  I dont know, it feels like one of those SINGLE edits where they cut out all the guitar solos and half the prechorus and shit.
Is it just me or is the lead singer sounding more and more like Geddy Lee with every album?

Song doesn't sound that bad, might pick up the album when it comes out if I have the money. Though the chorus reminds me of "The Kids Aren't Alright." for some reason.
This is my signature.

bumping because Gravemakers and Gunslingers has been released as a second "single", on myspace.

edit 2:

this is a preview of a few songs on the cd, as well as an interview with claudio sanchez taken from some radio station. 18mb mp3 file. the first song is the title track, 'No World for Tomorrow', i believe.

I didn't like it. It sounds to me like an oddly constructed song. I am in the same boat as maladroithim, not really a TRUE FAN or whatever, but my favourite songs by C&C are Welcome Home and Cuts Marked in the March of Men. Maybe some of you are right, that C&C is meant to be listened to album by album, but I really wasn't digging this song. Parts of it were too watered-down-for-radio, the lead singer's voice doesn't have the same cutting pitch as he did in earlier albums, and the whole forst minut of the song justs didn't "flow" for me. Sorry, no sale.

And yes, he sounds like Geddy Lee.

another mini-leak. This ones called, "The Hound of Blood and Rank". This one reminds me of Ten Speed, but is a bit more slow sounding. Again, the feel they are going with this albulm I think.

After first listen, I am quite happy with it. I like the new sound alot, and each of these singles has gotten me stupidly amped for this. I am a huge fan of rush and pink floyd, and obviously coheed, and I feel like this is just a huge throw to prog in general.

The Hound is the best one so far, but still this is overall a let down in comparison to their other albums.
It will probably be well received by the masses though because it is accessible :(.

i don't really think either song is comparable to good appollo, except maybe Welcome Home. it sounds alot heavier. Everything is much more progressive and heavy. It might be more accessible, I've got no idea, but it is really hard sounding and I feel like it is fitting for the finale to their "saga". If you are talking about being "accessible", their only non-accessible album would be second stage. And yeah, bands change from their first album.

And none of their singles released would really fall in to pop-rock, except maybe The Running Free, but thats a stretch. Its still very, very progressive. Everyone is a pessimist when it comes to new releases.

edit:

and the first song, "No World for Tomorrow", will defintely meet yoru expectations if you need an epic song like In Keeping Secrets. I am willing to gaurentee this album will be more impressive than Good Apollo 1, which I consider to be kind of a flop because of a weak middle.

Generally if something is "more progressive" it's going to be less accessible so I'm having trouble with your logic so far.

To kind of keep back on the subject though, The hounds is at least a decent song compared to the rest of what I've heard so far from this album

I'm saying that the songs are structures more like traditional prog rock rongs, for example pink floyd or rush. two legenedary prog bands that are, without a shadow of a doubt, pretty damn accessible. for example, the heavy injection of guitar solos, pretty much everywhere a guitar solo could fit. The guitar work is layered, really layered. Claudio's vocals are up a notch higher than the previous album, but probably still a bit lower than second stage.

from good appollo, the poppy sounding songs, in my opinion, are: Crossing the Frame, Once Upon your Dead Body, Wake Up,  and The Suffering. Really, I don't think any of the no world for tomorrow released songs sound even remotely as poppy as any of the ones I mentioned above. A matter of opinion, to some extent, but really, I can't see this albulm being more pop-friendly.
