new songs: Gravemakers and Gunslingers,

edit: "leaked" song, The Hound (Of Blood and Rank)

I figured somebody would make this topic eventually, as I know there are lots of 'heed fans on these boards. So post your thoughts, hopes, expectations, dissapointments (with any albulms or songs). Since its supposed to conclude the story (I know, the prequel is due out next, but still), its sort of fitting that a general discussion thread is made.

Leave the "Coheed sucks balls" comments out. Its been said. If you want to bash, give a teeny bit more reason, thankyamuch.

As for my thoughts, I've followed them from second stage, and i've enjoyed all their albulms. good apollo was a little dissapointing after the originality of second stage, and the atmosphere of IKSOSE. I felt like it was a little lacking on both of those. But it did have alot of solid tracks.

As for this single, I like it. People won't because its more accessible than most Coheed stuff. But I don't mind that, its a catchy song, and I like catchy songs just as much as the next preteen girl. I just hope that they show their wide array of musical styles as well. And yeah, as far as that is concerned, I'm not too worried.

Anyway, yes, I like it. It seems like a mix between the poppy Favor House Atlantic and the heavier Welcome Home. Works for me. I'm a sucker for the "Oh-Oh-Ohs", I have to admit.

Honestly, the whole track feels a little rushed.  There are no epicly smooth transitions a la The Crowing!  I dont know, it feels like one of those SINGLE edits where they cut out all the guitar solos and half the prechorus and shit.

It's very...poppy. But I like it all the same. I'm glad Claudio's voice got a bit higher; it sounds like a song off of In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, which is my favorite by them.

I can't wait for the new album.

What

If anything it sounds the least like anything off of IKSE3.  It sounds like they took the pop of Good Apollo and multiplied it by 4.

Also his voice sounds awful on the verses. ;(   I'm hoping this track is a fluke or something (ala Blood Red Summer)

This displeases me a bit (finally got around to listening too it)

I Loved SSTB and IKSE MUCH better the Good Apollo (Though Welcome Home is one of my favorite songs by them)

What song does this sound like from IKSE?  As ATARI said, it sound like more of Apollo, speaking of ATARI, what was the fluke about Blood Red Summer?  Was that their first single or something?

i like the song because, despite how poppy it sounds, it is really kind of disturbing on a different level. like unsettling, dark, something-about-to-happen. claudio's vocals sound more like they did in IKS. listen to any given song in good appolo - he sings more often with a lower tone, like he is trying to lessen the sound a bit.  in this song he is back to those higher notes he left in the older albulms.

as for it not being epic like the crowing - its the first single. it is supposed to be more mainstream, which is definietely is, but it still keeps the sound of the band cohesive. Definitely the more progressive rock sound of the band, but the vocals and some of the riffs are undeniably coheed underneath. As far as their singles go, its up there with A Favor House.

Compare it to:

Favor House Atlantic
Blood Red Summer
The Suffering

and, a little bit of Welcome Home

but not nearly as heavy.

That said, i hope this albulm gives us songs more like ten speed, and another epic or two like in keeping secrets or the crowing. then i will be satisfied until the next release.

no

Its just a god awful song on an otherwise really good album

AHhahahaha are you seriously calling the crowing an epic?

Also if this album is anything as poppy as Good Apollo was, I think I'm giving up Coheed for good.

I've always found co and Ca to be a band that needs to be listened an entire album at a time. If you listen to just one song, you don't get the full impact. The entire albums are very good when listened to as a whole, so I was really disappointed by the two singles from In keeping secrets. They didn't fit into the rest of the album.. But that's my opinion. Also, I can't wait for this album, I really want to listen to it NOW!. But if it isn't better than Good Apollo, especially in the second half, where good apollo just lost steam and each song started melting into the other, then I'm gonna lose all hope in these guys, because they seem to turn more and more straightforward rock songs with each album.

what man?  that song is fucking brilliant.  i love that song.

also yeah the crowing is totally epic.  how is it NOT epic?  the ending is so huge.  You know, when the "DEAR AMBELINA" bit comes in.  that is fucking epic.

That. Athough I can listen to the songs individually and still get a rush off them (See what I did there?). The albums are all masterpieces.

Anyone who calls IV:I poppy should listen to the last 4 tracks, including The Final Cut which will deliver a fresh cup of shut the fuck up to that theory.

Given that the science ficiton behind the music is getting a lot of publicity recently it's increasingly likely that the album will have a good few callbacks to The Second Stage Turbine Blade and their sound then.

They played this when I saw them at Warped and though I spent much of their set smothered amongst a bunch of hardcore kids in a moshpit I thought that too. It sounded awkward and rushed. I still have high hopes for the rest of the album though; Blood Red Summer was a pretty bad song too, but the rest of the album was excellent.

I thought this was more because Good Apollo was from the viewpoint of the Claudio the Writer, rather than Claudio the character.

I also got back from warped tour, and picked on some merch as well. Their new tshirt design is really badass, and the sweater isn't too bad either. The tshirt is like the old dragonfly one but juxtaposed over a blood-red moon with some bloodstains over the front. Its probably their best looking one yet, in my opinion. The hoodie is a bit more basic, with crossed swords on the back, and a little co&ca tag on the front breast. Still nice looking. I'll take a picture and upload if anyones interested.

As for GA - Definitely was from a different viewpoint, but the vocal change wasn't big for me. Even in the willing well songs, where he is back in character, he still sings much lower than he used to.

also couch it's not TERRIBLE but in comparison to pretty much the entire rest of the album it is rather weak.
