For those who don't know, Voodoo Fest is a massive three day (previous years were only two days) musical event in New Orleans.  This year it takes place October 26-28.

HERE'S THE LINEUP:  http://www.voodoomusicfest.com/2007/experience_lineup/

I can't wait for this, especially since pretty much every one of my friends are going.  In particular, I'm looking forward to Rage Against the Machine, Porcupine Tree, Coheed and Cambria, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Toots and the Maytals.  I really need to do my homework on some of these bands, because I'm sure there are some good ones that I just haven't heard yet.  There's really something for everybody here.

Is anybody else going to this?  If so, who are you going to see?   :fogetmmh:

If not, recommend me some of the bands off of the lineup!   :fogetshrug:

At least three of my friends went to Voodoo, and I'm still somewhat incensed that due to being stranded in the middle of fucking nowhere (aka, Marlboro, Vermont), I couldn't possibly have gone myself. Granted, I'd have only really been going for a handful of bands and staying far, far away from the premises on Sunday (Common being the sole exception in a day filled with tripe), but still... I'm going to be petulant about this.

Well, not really. I just talked to one of them who was of course raving about the Rage set (although he apparently thinks that they didn't play that long though I'd take an hour and half for sure) and somewhat violent due to the fact that the Pumpkins didn't play Zero. Lucky bastard also got to see Porcupine Tree, which would have made my year I believe.

If someone wants to see the PT gig, I got a link to it.

It was a good set but definitely not PT's best but since it's festival, that's kinda given. Wes' vocals were way off and I'm not used to seeing PT playing in daylight without any projectors, the right atmosphere really makes their show. I loved how they have changed most of their songs, they sound very fresh. Especially Way Out of Here, it was really good, and they connected it to Open Car in a neat way.

Wesley was ill or some shit which explains a lot. I thought it was a pretty good show as well (I watched it on the net.) I found it pretty funny when they just stopped through Ansethatize and Wilson was like "Err yeah there's more after that but okay."  Yeah, my complaints were Wesley (which couldn't be helped) and the fact that Wilson is in pretty dire need of a haircut. And, I don't know if it was the sound or anything but Fear of a Blank Planet sounded awful and just really empty.
