Has anyone else here encountered the all monk random battle?

It's a random battle of about 12 monks, they all have earth vest and advanced monk skills.

Ridiculously hard considering the fact that they outnumber you horribly, they can heal each other with earthslash (shockwave) and chakra, and revive each other with... revive.

Im sure a maxed out party can take them; I myself look forward to fighting the level 99 version of that random battle with my own maxed out party.

Wow, that sucks.  The annoying thing is that chakra actually heals for a lot, and doesn't revive return them to full health?  I wasn't aware that shockwave could heal fellow party members, though, if it hit them.  Maybe I would've used it a bit more if I had been.  But I don't even know how I'd win that one, short of maybe a caster heavy party.  I typically send my POWERHOUSE DUDES into the fray to focus fire someone down one at a time, if I have to worry about them getting heals, but I somehow don't think that'd go very well when they're surrounded by 11 other monks and taking a ton of damage.  Then again, all my melee guys have auto-potion, so maybe it wouldn't be that bad.  Plus Orlandeau's shadowblade is ridiculously good and he pretty much never needs healing with it.  I could probably kill two or three at once with things like divine ruination or other multi-target high-damage attacks, too.  Still, TWELVE.  It makes me kind of want to put the game back on my PSP!

I don't believe revive does a full heal.  As for Earth Slash, it does earth damage(surprise!) so anyone equipped with an earth drain piece of equipment(like say... an Earth Vest) gains health from the attack.  An awesome combination, not as good as the Ct/5/Holy and Holy drain combo(my own original idea, i swear!), but it involves more monks so its cooler!

I feel guilty. My main fighters right now are Ramza, Beowulf, Construct 8, Orlandeau, and Balthier. How cheap am I? haha..

That's a very fun battle if you're expecting it, but compared to some of the later multiplayer missions it's very easy, there are a few 'special battles' like that are various locations.

There are loads of things more cheap in this game now than him, excluding the obvious Math Skill, Dark Knights swordskills reduce his impact and are availible for any character. level 8 Onion Knights with full Onion Gear are basically Orlandeau's in themselves (except they can't equip abilities). I'm glad they left Orlandeau alone, he's supposed to be a powerful character storywise anyway, if they'd have made him harder to get less people would compain. Orlandeau's great if you want to solo some of the co-op missions (as in you bring one character instead of three) to get better rewards.

Yes I think also not having a unit die (or be revived) and the fewer turns it takes to complete the mission also improve your rank and rewards based on your technique. I know I got great rewards on the Nightmare mission (4 Ultima daemons, all the Lucavi) even though I got petrified ,doomed and stopped on the first turn and the other guy solo'd the mission because I forgot to bring a ribbon.

Wish more people were on Xlink kai when I can actually play...

My Ramza has auto potion with 97 brave, so I figured I could send him deep into the fight with little issue...

Then they used doom fist. >.>;

I just got up to the second chapter...

But my Ramza's graphic goes all glitchy, same with dragoons, ninjas and mystics. Not too sure about anything else...

Must be a bad iso.

97 is the highest brave can be enhanced by normal methods.

You can a 100 brave in battle, but because permanent brave is raised by +1 every time you raise it in battle by +4, 97 is the maximum permanent brave/faith (faith above 94 on non-ramzas leave the party) because you can't raise it an additional 4 points to get a permanent 100. Same as 03 Brave is the minimum permanent brave (you'll leave the party) and faith (near immunity to magic).

Learning Zodiark for everyone is annoying, since it can't be done with multiplayer as far as I know, I also wish they'd beefed up the last few bosses

What the hell? I swear it was 100 after the wiegraf fight. I raised all battle.
And it was like that for awhile... now it's 88? Does Brave go down?

I already explained that your temporary brave and faith can reach a hundred but your permanent cannot (so you'll never have 100 out of battle). Look at it this way.
If you have 75 Brave (both temporary and permanent) at the start of that battle, and you raise it by 10 (using scream or steel or something). you'll have 85 Temporary, when the battle ends you'll have 77 because for every 4 points you raise temporary, you gain 1 permanently. The same works for faith, and lowering faith/brave. Test it using a mediator's Praise, Preach ability, it'll raise brave/faith by 4 for the battle but after the battle you'll only have 1 extra point in that stat. Thus 97 is the maximum permanent because you cannot raise it by another 4 if the highest it can reach is 100.

The new dark knight swords are irritatingly rare, I only have the Deathbringer and Ninja's don't throw them. On the plus side you can really abuse the all ninja mission by using catch and a level 99 partner (usually me), it's much more convenient than the deep dungeon's ninjas.

explanation

-_- thanks. Yes, I understand what you SAID. However, I must have fooled myself awhile ago when I was SURE it was 100 out of battle. Because when I checked it for proof of my arguement, it was 88. Thus debunking my cry.

On a new note, I'm starting to get bored of FFT. Maybe I should play something else for a little while before it interests me again. (I'm leveling before the final fights... always a mood killer. Leveling is the most boring stage of any game you've played before.)

If you've been through the Deep Dungeon, you probably don't need to level before the final boss, at least not much.

Oh, I know, I beat this on PSX, just thought I'd level. Good thing too. I stumbled into a hidden finale to Reis/Beowulf at Lionel Castle. On PSX I went straight to Orbornne.
Cool stuff, I wonder if Construct/Worker 8 has extra story (doubt it).

edit- Severus, sorry for being rude. You were trying to help, my reaction  was uncalled for.
