Looks awesome but the drawback is no side view battles from 2k/2k3. I hate phantasystar battle style! Worse! I can't script this!

See, I don't get how you people can say it looks bad. So they took people suggestions and added in the stuff people liked from Rm2k3...how is that bad? What else can they possibly add? All I seem to get from this is "OH NOEZ! ITS NOT 3D!!". Well...do you know how much work it would take to make custom graphics if the engine was in 3D?  You'd have pretty much every game using the RTP except the few people willing to shell out $100 or so for a 3D modeling program to make their own stuff.

I don't know, I think if this is just a mix between RMXP and Rm2k3, then it could be potentially the best of the RM series. It has all the event driven commands I love about 2k3 and the graphic capabilities of RMXP.

I'm actually pretty excited about this! I'm sure I'll make at least a very, very short (and cheesy) game whenever I can get this sh!t.

That doesn't really look like much improvement over RMXP.  At least between RM2k3 and XP they added script and increased the resolution, but this seems like XP with a few custom scripts built in.
I'd like to see a customizable database, so you don't have to hardcode as much.

That's an odd resolution.  And I'd like a customizable database too.

I never got into RMXP because of the lack of built-in scripts, and the lack of scripts in general.  I'd probably like it a lot more now that there are many more scripts written available out there on the internets.

But maybe we should just all use ika instead.

But if you're like me and think XP suck ass, VX looks awesome.

VX is what RMXP should have been.

People are complaining? I thought some of the biggest complaints about RPG Maker XP was the lost features from 2003 and the increased resolution. Well now they lower the resolution it seems and all the features of 2003 are in and more. I think this will be the version that finally combines everything good in the series. It gives the best of 2003 and the best of XP except perhaps the battle system (though I consider the 2000 battle system the best one but others may not think so). I'm looking forward to this one.

The resolution is retarded... And the default scripts look exactly like RM2K. The default graphics look like RM95. That airship on the world map looks almost exactly like the airship in RM95... In fact, I think it is the same airship! The default world map looks good though. I don't like the default town graphics. They're really ugly... Also, what's so special about the "Far more developed tileset/autotiles system"? It looks the same as usual in the screenshots.

Well i'll be sold by it if it has a battle style option thrown in where you can switch between side view and first person.

You know what would be nice? If they actually threw in this, plus an option to use either ATB, turn-based battles, or speed-defined turn based (like Xenosaga/ Velsarbor's system).

I'm assuming you'll need to use scripts to change the battle system.

VX is what RMXP should have been.

Signed. All the lost features in XP was one of the main reasons I didn't like XP too much. I'm glad they brought everything back.

Though I have to wonder why they chose those types of sprites for the RTP characters. They look very pretty, but they should have stuck with the same height as the RTP chars from 2K/3 or XP.

They changed the resolution again? XP changed the resolution so you couldn't import 2K/3 graphics anymore... Now you can't import XP graphics. C'mon, Enterbrain.

I can't tell from the Japanese, but I hope they ditched XP's character stats (the whole having 0 Atk/Def with no equipment thing) and returned the originals (base Atk/Def and stuff) + Magic Defense. I wonder if they brought back the special effects from weapons and armor too (attack all enemies, half MP cost, etc.). If they kept XP's, then at least hopefully Atk = Str+Weapon and Def = Vit(or whatever)+Armor this time around.

It looks like they went back to RM2K default battle system. That's weird. I guess they thought the whole still character picture thing from XP was retarded, but at least you could still see battle animations on them... I would have preferred they returned to side-view, though. Hopefully it'd be easier to script in, if it isn't already a default option.

Anything higher than 320x240 looks stupid. The default sprite size in RMXP isnt proportional to the increased resolution, and everyone keeps making these tiny characters which look horrible with so much screen space. I'd still prefer Rm2k/3 if anything, unless you can change the resolution in this one.

That's the one thing that ALWAYS bugged me in RMXP. The character sets are complete shit due to the resolution. It doesn't make it any better since the max FPS is 30 too.
RMVX fixes the FPS, and I hope it fixes the character set problem.

It's the ultimate Japanese Dragon Quest Making Machine guys.
This is more than enough to get me to switch to it.
Although I fear my computer will not be able to handle it.
