This is more than enough to get me to switch to it.
Although I fear my computer will not be able to handle it.

if your pc cant handle those specs then SOMETHING IS WRONG

I might give this a whirl, if/when it's translated. I could finally make The Incredible Quest: The Quest of Dude II.

That's the one thing that ALWAYS bugged me in RMXP. The character sets are complete shit due to the resolution. It doesn't make it any better since the max FPS is 30 too.
RMVX fixes the FPS, and I hope it fixes the character set problem.

You can actually change the default FPS.  One of the first things I did with my trial version of RMXP (I am testing the waters right now) was see about an FPS fix, and one does exist.  You can pretty much do anything with that engine you want; I just don't want to use it because it is easier for me to just build my own system in Game Maker rather than tinker around with one built in Ruby, a language I don't know.

Anything higher than 320x240 looks stupid. The default sprite size in RMXP isnt proportional to the increased resolution, and everyone keeps making these tiny characters which look horrible with so much screen space. I'd still prefer Rm2k/3 if anything, unless you can change the resolution in this one.

Glad I'm not the only one. Didn't like the changing resolutions for pretty much what y'all said (plus screwing up the imports). I think RM2K/3 had the best resolution and proportions.

I'm probably not going to switch (since I'm nearly done with this kind of thing anyway), but the facesets are really, really good.

This sounds cool enough, the improved framerate itself is already a huge bonus.  I think maybe I'll start using RPG Maker again when I have a vista computer and they crack this RM VX
Play Raimond Ex (if you haven't already)

I'll not TAKE ANYTHING you write like this seriously because it looks dumb

http://www.enterbrain.co.jp/tkool/products/rpgvx/ They updated the site.

Hmm, other things I've noticed. There are bars for HP/MP and status effects are now icons. No need to script them anymore.

Yeah, that was something that was sorely missing for a long time. No more struggling to fit your status condition's name into a small text box.

Thank you Mr. Optimistic.

Seriously, though, someone will just translate it just like EVERY OTHER RPG MAKER. :fogetlaugh:

actually it more than likely will, most of the people who pirated it all bought it. EB made some good money off of it.

I fail to see how a piss poor resolution is a GOOD thing. Holy crap, some people are just that much into the retro look huh.

Would it honestly be so much for EB if they could just let the designer in question CUSTOMIZE the resolution? I have the means to make pretty high res sprites but that apparently isn't something EB wants!

So ripping the screen shots. It looks a lot like the rm2k3 rtp with a few enhancements. I like the faces though. They're sweet. Now I need a few more faces to be shown...

Actually the chipsets are really good IMO. I think Enterbrain actually used them kind of badly though in the prview screens.

The chibi-er state of it all makes it look much better visually than rpg maker xp; but the problem here is that this is still not the 3d rpg maker with character creation and a cool fixed camera + background cg screenshot that I dreamed of having 10 years ago.

Too little, far too late.

But hopefully this will change the way games are made here at GW to create a newer fancier generation once again.
