what i don't understand is why these <1% people are still tagging along and wasting money on the campaign trail. maybe they're hoping to pick up a VP spot??

I don't much about this stuff, but I remember someone telling me they get $$$$ back if they can garner a certain tiny percentage of the votes. idk I'm probably wrong

For many of these lower tiered candidates, the only real way to gauge the success of their campaign is to run a serious campaign and see how far they get.  Often, they will drop out before the primaries are complete if their campaign is going no where.  And if nothing else, they have a short opportunity to convey their particular ideas to the public.

the two arguments have been brought up yeah; Ron Paul is this generation's Lyndon Larouche, Kucinich runs in hopes that something might happen, and a few of the rest get to hide away some campaign money if they are clever enough.

I did all this research a while ago, and I am split between Bill Richardson and Dennis Kucinich. Richardson seems like the most genuine, caring, and motivated candidate, but I agree with Kucinich on more issues than I do with Richardson.

I think I am definitely leaning towards Kucinich simply because of his stances on the issues, but Richardson's history of public service stands out far more, and he is the only Democratic candidate AFAIK who has any executive experience.

What is with you and Ron Paul?

I still have not seen a more libertarian candidate. Could you please inform me if there are any yet?

Wow, even if you don't intend to vote for him or any liberal candidate for that matter that's pretty honest and respectable of you to say that. Props to you for being open minded especially when (correct me if I'm wrong) a number of members here give you crap for your supposedly strongly conservative political agenda.

You know what I'm saying  :fogetshrug:. Maybe I have things wrong but if not that's pretty respectable imho.

i have only been really classified as a conservative for my views on one or two issues and even then it is just like IN COMPARISON to most people on gw.

but yeah i have always been an independent but i have been leaning more and more left lately. While i am strongly pro life i can't vote for any of the disgusting republican cockbags, hillary makes me vomit, and poor mister kucinich isn't going to get the nomination in a million years so it looks like OBAMA IS MY MAN

OBAMA.... MORE LIKE OSAMA THAT'S WHAT MITT ROMNEY TOLD ME......... FUCKING HOPEMONGER I HATE HIM...

Maybe Kelly Clarkson would be a good leader, actually.

For the guys outside the country (THE COUNTRY = USA), how closely do you follow the elections?

Not at all. I have no idea who Ron Paul or Obama is, and for all I know Kelly Clarkson could actually be a politician. I have no interest in finnish politics and much less in foreign ones.

That said, I will read the news article(s) whenever someone is elected.
<Drule> I can play the didgeridoo actually
<Drule> some guy on the street taught me
<Drule> come to think of it
<Drule> it was pretty gross how I played on his didgeridoo

Heh. That's hilarious. Much worse than Fox News having Osama as a headliner when they talked about Obama.

Man it's even worse for me. Do you guys know what the FREE STATE PROJECT is? Go wikipedia it, it was a big idea by libertarians to move all their disgusting selfish asses to new hampshire to have a libertarian state. But fuck them because I for one will never let that happen in my lifetime.

I don't really know any fat people (they're pretty rare here) and I don't know what a libertarian is so go figure. I just wiki'd him and saw his face and I can say I've never seen him before!
