I've been listening to a bit of UK hip-hop lately, and some of it is pretty refreshing compared to most American rap I've been hearing lately.  I was wondering if anyone here knew much about UK artists, because I'd really like to find some good shit.

Some songs I really like so far:

-Everything on here from Afrikan Boy is awesome, I really like his dialect, vocal style, and badass beats.  Sadly, there are no albums to be found.  The MIA song on there is pretty cool, too. (http://www.myspace.com/AFRIKANBOY)

-Also http://myspace.com/boybetterknow, these songs sound alright, but more for the beats than the vocals.

-And DJ Scholar (  http://www.myspace.com/scholardj ), mainly for his song Fire Vocals.

So, if anyone could recommend more music like this, or just hook me up with what you like, that would be tight.

Roots Manuva is from London. I think I still have his discography somewhere, but I only remember liking one album out of it. It might be missing an album or two.

slick rick? then there's stuff like THE STREETS if that's what you're looking for

LETHAL BIZZLE IS LOVE.

^Seriously, you should listen to that song.^

EDIT: Yes even if it ripped off The Clash.

I like some grime stuff - Wiley especially, Dizzee Rascal isn't bad. I'm not really into it too much (in terms of what I know) but I really dig what I've heard. My mates are trying to get me into the 2-Step/Dub stuff that's big in England currently.

I really dig Jehst/Skinnyman/Foreign Beggars/Blade as well.

What I love about the rap/grime scene throughout London and  the UK is that alot of artists still make music about social issues, i.e. inequality and poverty, and their music encourages marginalised youths to be proactive and positive instead of whining about THE MAN. I'd much rather listen to Grime than generic rap about grillz and "OH HO WHAT A NICE RUMP". A good example of this is Klashnekoff: http://youtube.com/watch?v=n0CKHGgxr4Y

Haha awesome

Somebody should tell American rappers YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

Also sampling <3 Now, American stuff might still be sampled at times but it's that Timbaland kind of stuff. Seriously that background tune is really classy I wish I could build a Homeland song around it or something

Seriously I used to LIKE hip-hop a lot back when it started out. I was like 5 back then but my brother was into it. All hip-hop now sounds like it's got some sort of problem - I mean the actual MUSIC does and it sucks
