You can turn pokeballs on and off and you'll be able to do the same in Brawl. What you can't do, however, is change who comes out from pokeballs/assist trophies.

EDIT: Marth confirmed. Fuck yes! In last night's update, if you look at the Japanese page, you'll see this picture:

It's Fire Emblem 3 and it basically confirms Marth, since they're letting us play demos of the games the characters come from. At the same time however, Falco disconfirmed?

This Masterpieces update is kinda pointless to me. Playing a short demo of each game all the characters came from is kinda neat, but it's not something I would've included. Especially since there's a trial period involved. For some reason, those always bothered me..

There's never been an option to turn off or on the specific pokemon, but now with the inclusion of assist trophies as well, hopefully there will be one!

I wouldn't jump so quick to that conclusion. I don't think they would put Ike's game, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, in as a demo. Same thing goes for Pikmin. They are most likely sticking to anything Nintendo 64 or under (basically, anything you can find on Virtual Console).

It also isn't the game the characters come from, its the best (according to Sakarai) game in the series they come from...the masterpiece of the series.

I'm a little disappointed with the Masterpieces. It's doubtful I'll ever play these games, as I did not in Animal Crossing when they did the same thing.

It's a cool idea I guess, but we all have wii shop, and we can all go buy them off VC and play the whole thing. Seems a little like a waste of space.

Btw, supposedly a few other characters were confirmed, you can look them up. And I don't think the Fire Emblem masterpiece has anything to do with Marth specifically, more likely Sakurai is implying that it's the best in the series.

Right, but think about it this way. Does Mother 2 being a demo mean it's intended for Lucas? Using the same logic, yes, that would appear to case, but it's not because we already know Ness is confirmed and if they wanted it to represent Lucas, they could use Mother 3, which is a GBA title, and would therefore be easy to port.

Look at it how you will, but to me, it seems like a pretty good indication of his inclusion.

Not really. The Virtual Console doesn't even support ANY handheld system currently, and I doubt they can just go "let's whip an emulator together overnight just for one game."
Besides, Mother 3 has been out for less than two years, why would they put a game on the Virtual Console that you could probably still find in stores?

Yeah, DeDeDe's chaingrab looks broken. He can do it at low-mid percentages from what I saw (and possibly even higher). His hammer has long ass range too. Pretty cool though. Kirby looks damn good now. I used to main him in SSB64 and I might end up picking him up again since he's unnerfed.

As for the demo, supposedly Gamestop might be getting them in a week or two (according to some kid that works at a gamestop). Hope it's true.

DeDeDe looks better than I thought; he's actually not that slow, which is great. Ike looks really fun, too, and so does Pokemon trainer. I am so so so glad they got rid of Kirby's side-A, the fire run was really annoying in Melee.
