I heard he did get stronger, but his lack of a good up-B of any sort while every other character has a buffed one is retarded. I mean... They could have replaced it, right? Who uses the egg toss, really? Is it THAT game breaking to have some sort of egg-jump thing instead?

EDIT: Apparently, if you and a friend have already added each other's Wii Codes, and you both have Brawl, your Brawl codes are automatically sent to each other. Good news!

So I see someone played with Olimar. I'm curious. Is he just useless against characters with deflection abilities? Also, can Pikmin be caught like other thrown projectiles? Is there any significance of the Pikmin's ghosts? What does it feel like to play with Olimar and Pikmin? It just peaks my interest - an all projectile character with so many deflector abilites floating around... Anyone?

I'm very curious about this too.

Also, I'm a little disappointed that Falcon Punch hasn't been given an animation for the air use. I think it looks dumb when he stands in midair and powers up.

The only Olimar attack that can be reflected like a projectile is his side-B, where he throws Pikmin and they latch on to enemies to do damage. The rest of them are treated like normal attacks and can't be reflected. Olimar is, in fact, extremely difficult to fight against. All of his attacks have a lot of range and do good damage, he is hard to predict since he is always obscured by his Pikmin, and when you do attack him you often end up hitting the Pikmin instead. It's really annoying, and my friend who sometimes plays as him is pretty much undefeated.

I knew that once I saw him in there, he'd be a solid character. I seriously think he's gonna be one of those surprise top-tier characters. And about "hitting the Pikmin instead"... Does each Pikmin take an attack to kill? Does that mean a side-B can be caught like an item? Or is it just like a fireball? I saw gameplay on Youtube, but he didn't let the other guy do anything to defend against Olimar's attacks. It was a demonstration of how Olimar plays, but it was somewhat vague. On a sidenote, I never got the opportunity to play either Pikmin games. Any weight difference on Mr. Game & Watch? (I prefer to use his entire name. He deserves it. :P) On another note...

Has anyone bought one of those new "Old-School Style Wii controllers?" I was thinking about picking up some if they're more reliable than GC controllers.

Shadow should've been on Brawl - wtf...

EDIT: I meant Knuckles and Tails. Consider the Starfox Union and the Poke-Mafia. It's ridiculous.
Knuckles and Tails would be ideal instead of more Pokemon because they're
vintage characters, and with the release of Pit and Meta Knight with their
gliding abilities, why would Knuckles and Tails not be viable choices?

they wouldn't have included multiple characters from one third-party series.

I'm gonna have to argue the hell out of that. How many Pokemon were there?
151. Now how many are there? How far apart is Pikachu from freaking Lucario?
I think characters who become important in the storyline, who are allies of the
main character, ie - Falco to Fox - should deserve consideration. I have to know.

I agree with him. It'd be stupid as shit to include multiple characters from one third party franchise when you can just swap them in for characters from other third parties.

And there are wayyyyy more Pokemon than just 151. You're thinking of the very first generation. I just checked the website and they have 490 listed.

I don't mind that they added more Pokemon, especially since one of them is three-in-one.  Lucario's the only really new Pokemon they added, and that seems to be out of his sheer popularity among fans.

There are other characters I would've liked to see in Brawl, but it's no use complaining about it now, and it's still going to be an awesome game.  They're already way above average, so maybe they can afford to slack off a little bit...

Uh, Brawl has the same number of pokemon as Melee did...
Not to mention, Pokemon is a first party game, and it's the second to top selling franchise in the world.

But I can understand Falco and . I'm pretty sure about 80% of the smash fanbase was thinking 'wtf' when we found out they were included. I think most people didn't believe Falco was returning, and that Krystal was a shoe-in.

Plus I'm sure even Knights had a better chance being in brawl than Knuckles or Tails did, since he at least his own game coming out. Actually pretty much any third party, save Capcom, had a better chance for a character than Knuckles or Tails. Look at Snake.

Just heard some good news for those of you that are looking for a Wii. Apparently Best Buy will be getting a shipment of Wiis on the day Brawl is released. I don't know if it applies to all stores or only a select few. My guess is it'll be just a few of the stores that are doing a midnight release.

Do you mean the Classic Controller?  I personally think it's pretty awful.  It's a decent controller as fun as function goes, but it's pretty cheap-feeling and it gives me terrible cramps in my forearms when I use it.  I think this may just be a clash with hand size versus controller size though so I don't know.  Also I tend to cramp up pretty easily.  I prefer it over the Gamecube controller though because I feel that the buttons are placed pretty much randomly on the Gamecube pad.

Anyway yeah in summary I think that the Classic Controller is better than the Gamecube controller and definitely way better than the sideways Wiimote.

Wait, so the buttons on the Gamecube controller don't do the same thing as they did in Melee? :(

So help me god if they made "Up" the only jump option...

maladroithim is just trying to say that he doesn't like the Gamecube Controller's design.

They do the exact same stuff. Only thing that's changed is the inability to light shield. You have to press the L/R buttons all the way to shield in Brawl.

Also, you can customize what each button does.

That's pretty cool, not the light shield part.

Yeah, light shields were really helpful, especially for people like Game & Watch where it barely covers him normally.  But it's not that big a loss...I don't usually remember to use it.

Well I imagine that the shields are bigger to make up for not being able to light shield. It would make sense anyway. To bad still, I used it a lot.

So do you guys use the jump button or just 'up'?

I've tried to teach myself to use the button but I just can't. I have to say though, I do accidentally make wrong moves because of using the 'up.'

Jump button. I'm glad they gave an option to disable up jumping. Sometimes when I play link I end up jumping before using his B-Up.
