Seriously there is almost no credential to Burton-hating besides like "lol goths are shit."

What about "lol faux his faux goth style is shit"? You know... like in Batman and Robin?

Batman & Robin? You need to check your facts a bit :)

Well aside from the fact that he is generally style over substance and that he panders to a certain demographic and that he gets a lot more credit than he deserves, yeah, you're right.

That's not to say that I dislike Burton, though.  He's just... not that great!

JPC should direct this

Also Jan Svankmayer (sp?)'s version looks like the ultimate adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. And it's totally dark without being gothic

Edit: Surprised nobody mentioned it - if you guys think a dark version of Alice in Wonderland is still called for, I think Pan's Labyrinth guy would make pretty much the greatest version ever

Also the problem is that Tim Burton's movies are very big and elaborate and theatrical - but Alice in Wonderland calls for MINDFUCK

Yeah I would like the darker version of Alice to be told, Tim Burton could do a good job of telling it too.

Don't forget that this is Disney producing and that the script was penned by the same who did Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Burton isn't everything to this film. I have no doubt that this will be somewhat dark but it probably won't be a whole lot darker than say Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Alice in Wonderland in general has always struck me as really theatrical/vaudeville-ian. I mean its a mindfuck too but yea how is say the court or the Mad Hatter's party AREN'T theatrical?

Yeah, the more I think about this Tim Burton adaptation, the more I want to just read the book.

So it's a good thing in that respect if there are other people like me.

Really the only objectivley bad thing I can see coming from this movie is that it'll make the Tim Burton fans that much worse, and who gives a shit about Tim Burton fans?
