...To break down a buy a new game system!!!

Jesus...this has been the hardest choice in recent memory...ever since the N64 VS PS days...fighting it out between Final Fantasy VII and Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (in the end, I got both! YAY!)

The systems I'm interested in the most: PSP, PS3, Wii

Wii:
Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Star Fox, Any Zelda Game
Why Not: Controllers! Too many of em, and there is seriously a lack of RPG's here!!!

PS3:
Star Ocean 4, RPG in general
Why Not: RPG's have been going downhill, Silver needs a change anyways! But...still...

PSP:
Star Ocean Remakes
Why Not: $300 for like two games that I have played already!?

Or...continue and stick the course with my laptop, finishing JC off...

The problem is I also get side track, and whatever time I DO have from working weird hours...is spend on JC or video games in general...

My gut is telling me to stay the course, and save your money...

The devil inside is telling me to blow your saving fund...

I have about $1500 in savings...

A mastercard of $3000

So what does Silver4Donuts choose?

Make my choice dudes and dudettes!

(Oh the XBox 360 is still good too...that's another choice I forgot to list)   :fogetbackflip:

I SAY Wii! But then again, I love Nintendo. Especially Starfox.
I have a PSP, it only cost about $150.
The PS3 is still about $3 to 400.
And the Wii is $250... Get the Wii. As with all Nintendo products, better games are on the horizon!

If you have loads of friends who you can invite round regularly, get a Wii.
If you like online play and hot FPSes, get a 360.
If you like overpriced shite, get a PS3.

Don't get a PSP. I had one for a while and never really played it even though it was modded and I could have any game I wanted. The screen is fucking terrible. Aye, it's huge, but the refresh rate is atrocious! All the games end up looking like your main character is drunk.

EDIT: Oh, you like RPGs, probably don't have much friends then. Don't bother with a Wii.

i like my psp. if it has games you actually want for it (its not worth getting it for emulation, most of the emulators aren't 100% and you have a damn pc) then get it. i got it for loco roco and ghouls and ghosts (and landstalker eventually hopefully :/), the hacked bits are just a nice extra.

yeah the refresh rate leaves a wash but that doesn't bother me. if it does then yeah you won't like it. (kinda weird that that would be a deciding factor tho)

You seem to like rpg's, and the PSP has quite enough of them. The ability to
emulate SNES roms would also be great in this.

I however, would always go for the wii. I've had this thing for quite some time
now, and I love it. Zelda, Mario (and Paper Mario), SSBB... and as for rpg's, the
cube had Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos and the like, and there's a whole
world of virtual console games on your doorstep. Gamecube games have become
cheap, and there are a lot of diamonds you probably never played before.
It's also a great console when you have friends to play with.
The downside to this is the expensive and excessive amount of controllers.

I don't know about the PS3 though, I know I have a PS2, and I'm not going to
bother getting a ps3 at this point. Overpriced, and I'm not a sucker for next gen
graphics. Which is why I enjoy the wii so much, I guess.
The only thing dumber than an argument on the Internet is the same argument in real life.

Loved Loco ROco, but got bored after a few worlds. It's fun introducing it to people and watching them try to tilt the PSP to move. Hardy har!

I was looking forward to Castlevania (insert subtitle here) for so long, but the blurry screen really did ruin it for me. Made the GTA games totally unplayable.

Just so you know, after Star Ocean 3 I'd say basing your decision of buying a console around THOSE games is a huge mistake.

As an owner of a PS3 and a serious fanboy, I'd say to go with that though. I've nothing against nintendo... and at the moment the Wii even has a better selection of good games (SUPER PAPER MARIO! and galaxy) but within the next year the PS3 will have a lot of really good games coming out.

The PSP has a lot of huge advantages (emulation and shit) so even that's a good choice.

So...

If you're going for GAMES RIGHT NOW buy the wii.

If you're looking for a long term good investment right now buy a PS3, otherwise hold off and wait until the price comes down.

Annd if you're just looking for something fun to mess around with, buy the PSP. Heck, if you have enough for the PS3, you  could buy a PSP AND Wii.

I ended up selling my PSP after a while since I never really played it.  I pretty much just used it for SNES games, and I couldn't fit many since I didn't want to buy a new memory stick.  It seemed like all the games I wanted for it were remakes of games I already had.  Loco Roco was pretty good, but I only played the demo since I sold my PSP before I bought the full version.  My favorite game on it was Me and My Katamari (that was the one on the PSP, right?  I forget which title is which sometimes), and even then the controls weren't very great.  More games I would have liked came out after selling it, but even still they were just things like Gitaroo Man where the only real reason to get them for the PSP is for portability.

I'd go with the Wii out of your considerations.  I'm still not very keen on the PS3, but I'm more warm towards it than I was before...or maybe less cold is a better way to put it.  I think when the price drops some more it'll be worth it, but for now it's still too much.  Like has already been said, if you can afford the PS3, just get a PSP and the Wii.

I decided not to get a Wii.  Other than Mario Galaxy (which I halfway completed in a few hours at a friend's house), Metroid Prime 3, and maybe Super Paper Mario - I couldn't find any other games worth playing on it.

Well I haven't really tried any of them, but when I do buy a console it's probably going to be a Wii. It doesn't seem to have the crummy action and RPG games the other ones do, and party games are always fun. I can imagine the Wiimote getting pretty annoying to use though, but still. It seems pretty good and cheap for casual gaming and has a few interesting titles in addition to that.

Wii has been okay so far I suppose. It lacks good games but has some great titles, plus yeah, it's the best console to get if you want to have fun with friends.

I don't really know much about PS3 but I'm not planning on getting one yet. I'll wait until it's got more good games and I can get it for cheaper. There's no rush to get one.

I have used rami's PSP a lot and it's great. I have enjoyed it more than Wii but I wouldn't get it unless you are going to get a modded firmware. It's great because you are able to play PS1/SNES/NEs games with it. Well, PSP got plenty of great games too but if it wasn't for everything else it could do, I wouldn't be that interested in it.

Xbox 360 is a good choice too (probably better than Wii at this point) but I'm not that interested in it. I'll see and wait to see what happens with PS3.

Okay, it appears that the Wii and XBox 360 are the recommended norm around here...

Now my brother is BUYING a XBox 360 sometime next year, so I asked him if I ever did by a few games (like Mass Effect) for it, he would let me play it. (Can't forget about Madden and NHL!) So XBox 360 I'm getting be default.

Wii seems also to be a good choice, the more I think about it...there are tons of games now and on the horizon that I will be picking up, and since I don't buy too many games...that would be probably a good choice, there is Wi-Fi play too!

But the many controllers...do I need to buy all or most of them? Can't I just buy the Wii controller and something else?

PSP...I'm still a fanboy of the Star Ocean series, and could buy one say in 2009...

PS3 seems out...

So now it's down to probably right now: Wii or sticking with your PC. Thanks guys!

I also should note that each system has plenty of good stuff in store (including sticking with the PC, Cromwell is looking better each day, and let's not forget everybody else's games!)

I'll think about it some more...I'll make my choice by December 8th...

That's the deadline day.

If you have friends and want to have some serious fun, then get a Wii.  If you asked me six months ago, I'd tell you it's a fucking waste of cash but six months later and it hasn't been unplugged yet.

And no, you don't need a bunch of controllers.  All you need is the wiimote and possibly the nunchuck.  The snes controller thing makes playing vc games easier and the zapper or whatever they're calling their lightgun can be used in future FPS games but isn't required in any of them.  The steering wheel makes that truck game much more fun but you can turn the wiimote on it's side and get the same effect... sort of.

Man Marcus, aside from Eternal Sonata 360 has no other good J-RPGs currently. Am I missing something here!

A 360 is the safest bet, has a strong library already and is a solid console all around. X-Box Arcade is kind of neat too I guess. Just remember 50% of the games released on it will probably show up on PC sooner or later.

I bought a Wii only for Brawl, so I probably am not the best person to ask about opinions on that console.

I have not stopped playing oblivion for six fucking months. Now the expansion is finally out and the first day I bought it. Someone save me. I bought flOw recently and now I'm having thoughts of playing it while on acid. Please help me. If I don't play Rainbow Six Vegas atleast once a day I get irritable. D: For your own saftey GET THE WII. Yeah, just ignore the 360 and the PS3 completely. They'll rob you of every penny you have ;_;

This is so fucking true.

However, I would still consider getting a PSP. If you're really into RPG's, you have a ton to choose from.
1. Final Fantasy Tactics Remake(good for a remake)
2. Crisis Core
3. Star Ocean
4. Final Fantasy 1 & 2(another good remake)
5. Brave Story, which sounds like THE GAME for you to get. I have a feeling you would love it.
6. Valkyrie Profile
7. 1000 + Roms, emulators, etc if you mod.

While more than half the list are of remakes of games already released, they still hold their own, especially on a handheld.
You can wait for the PSP though, and if you're looking for something to get right now, I think the 360 would be the way to go. They have the same selection as the PS3, and more. I still don't think Metal Gear Solid or any other exclusives can save the PS3, but with the recent price drop of the console...MAYBE.

Wow, a lot of hate for the PS3.
A year ago; I would have suggested Wii and Xbox360. However, I do believe truly that the tide will turn this year in favour of PS3. It's currently bogged down with Warhawk, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, CoD4 etc. Next year will be BIG. As in, a ton of new and exciting games.

Wii and 360 are solid, though may suffer when the PlayStation kicks into high gear. That's all I'm saying. The above arguements are generally correct; however will be stale pretty soon.

Who said I was talking about j-rpg's?

And if you are a j-rpg fan then Enchanted Arms and Blue Dragon (especially BD) are probably like, masturbation material.
