While 1up is pretty bleh it still gave SC4 95/100 calling it "the best fighter of 2008". Sure, there haven't been many fighters this year so it may not be hard to beat but the score shows promise.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing after watching some videos of it. I didn't care about this game at all before today, but now I definitely intend on picking it up as soon as I can.

it's not about that

it's about beating the top ranked guy with a naked character who has half stats, obviously.

Also it means that some of the places carrying it got it early and instead of holding it for 10 days, sent it out. This makes consumers want to go there more (cause they might break more games early) but it doesn't exactly put them on good terms with the game company.

Anyway, I think it's neat that what the characters are wearing have an effect on their stats. Kind of gives it an RPG-ish feel, oddly enough.

Yea it only has effects in certain game modes.

Also breaking the street date only (generally) works on pre-orders, that's how they get the repeat business. People will pre-order more often there with the hopes they get the game earlier, etc.

Will all the characters have to have light sabres now? Or will the jedi/sith be godmoding and cutting through anyone/thing? Or are they like Darth Chad with a lightbulb blade?

i've seen a lot of people question how a sword can stop a laser sword but no one seems to question the idea that someone can wail on someone else with a sixty pound sword and not make them bleed or knock them out in one hit

it'd be a pretty sucky game if the lightsaber just sliced through you.... i guess???

I'll probably buy this, the Soul Calibur series has always been fun to play with friends because it is pretty casual without becoming a spam fest

I'm not too big on Star Wars so I don't really care about the secret characters.  I really don't see how the fact that you don't like EXTRA characters will completely ruin the game, though.  I've been a pretty big fan of Soul Calibur since back in the day and I'm not going to boycott it simply because I'm presented with the option of playing as Yoda.

It might even be fun!

Alright. I'm getting this game. It's settled. If I can custom my own dudes, yeah that's a huge perk. It's one of the only reasons I enjoyed Fight Night Round 3 so much.

So I picked this up on my way home from work yesterday. I've probably put about two hours into it and am going to play it some more today.

I have to say, it's pretty damn fun. Darth Vader is actually a really cool character to use!
