I haven't posted on these forums for quite some time; however, I decided to create a little community scenario that will be awesome.
I. What I am proposing:
I am going to create a computer controlled air-to-air battle using Lock On: Modern Air Combat. I want forum members to sign up simple by replying to this thread. Best part is that the members involved will have to do very little, just provide me with a few choices and a large scale, hilarious battle will ensue.
II. How will I go about creating this 'battle.'
There are going to be two sides, two squadrons per side, and 3 pilots per squad, making for a total of 12 pilots...6vs6, 2 squads vs 2 squads.
There will be a flight lead who will be responsible for picking the squadrons aircraft from a list, provided below, and also to map out their desired flight path, also provided below.
III: How does one become the 'flight lead?'
Simple. When signing up specify you want to be a flight lead and you will become as such. There are going to be a total of 4 leads and I anticipate these spots will be taken up quickly.
IV: What if I don't want to be a flight lead and just be a vital part of the squad?
Specify this when you reply. Afterall, most of you who do sign up will fall under this category.
V: This is confusing, what does it matter if we sign up or not?
When all the spots are filled, I will have each lead e-mail me their plotted course and I will plug it into the editor and let the battle commence. I will take screen-shots, several in-fact, and post them with a story telling the tales of the battle. You can basque in shame or slither in glory as you see your aircraft and imaginary pilot, representing you, shooting down a fellow forum member.
VI: Sounds great, what do you need of me in order to sign up?
Scroll down and look at the list of current pilots and empty spaces. Then specify what you want to be, Ex: I want to be part of the Nato team and part of squadron a, wingman 2. I will then assign you to that position; however, be sure to give me your desired callsign, which can be your forum name or made up one, and i will plug you into that slot. If you are a lead you will have slightly more of a responsibility and will have to e-mail me your plotted course, as well as squadron aircraft choice
[email protected]. The subject should be, Gamingw air-battle.
VII: How do I 'Plot' a course, and what purpose does this serve?
You simply save the map image below and use mspaint or a similar program to create lines. An example for this is also provided. The purpose is to designate the direction your flight will be flying and will affect when you run into the enemy.
VIII: Choice of aircraft for the squadron, flight lead this is your responsibility.
