The Wii Fire Emblem is probably my favorite Wii-exclusive game.  It's really good.
I've been tempted but never bought it.  I haven't really explored tactical games much.

Hundley, not only the 3rd Front Mission, there's even 4th and 5th Front Mission!
uh, there's a reason why i didn't mention front mission 4 actually. that game bored the hell out of me, and really added nothing to the whole front mission setup.

Did some overlook the Tactics Ogre games? I appreciate their persuasion system though especially on Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis where everyone can persuade their enemies but consider their genders and classes though, unlike in Final Fantasy Tactics where you really need a Mediator to do that though...

In the Works:
[RM2K3::SFF-RPG] Wailing Mongooses in Gildepazzo

Under Hiatus/Literary Work mode:
[Lit/Rm2k3 :: Interactive Drama] NetGame Saga PROTOTYPE
[RMXP :: RPG] NetGame Saga

One of the coolest things about the Ogre series is that when you choose to be a good guy or a bad guy that the game actually has several completely independent sets of content (missions, cutscenes, etc) based on the decisions you make; in many cases this even restricts the classes that you can assign to your characters.  This is much cooler than games like KOTOR or such where the game artificially labels you as EVIL PERSON, but does not actually change in any substantial way.

Besides the games listed here, I would also say Shining Force and Front Mission are two very fun grid-based strategy/rpg games.

Only the first three Front Missions were nice, but the latter were kinda liked sucked and excluded to the Japanese community though... I was even dreaming of playing Front Mission Online but it didn't make it.

What about the worms series? Mostly Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party. I haven't played the newer 3d ones but the old 2d ones are a blast with a friend, and run on just about any system/connection.

For a free TBS type of game you guys could try Battle for Wesnoth.

I played Tactics Ogre for the 64 and I am waiting to see if Nintendo will be bringing it back to the Virtual Console(unless they already did).
The other TBS games I play are Civilization 3 and 4, gonna download that Free Vantage Masters to try it out.

Please keep mentioning other TBS games since they are the type of games I love.

Quick question: Can a TBS type game be done in rpg maker?(any version)

It has been done in RM2k/3, although I think for only a single project so far (so it's likely an extremely complicated process).

There's a script or two for RMXP with TBS functions, but I can't say whether any of them are complete/bug free.
