After posting my interest check topic it seemed we had a pretty good round of people interested in this, so let's do this!

Iron Chef GW: Genesis (lol so deep) - The rise of the Carrot

The first Iron Chef GW will focus on Carrots. Carrots are currently in season for the month of February, and they are very versatile. There are Carrot cakes, soups, and entire meals revolving around the wonderful vegetable. As a kid, most of us never really liked Carrots, but we grew into them, and once you've had a meal that does Carrot right, it tastes amazing and you wonder why all these years, you neglected the poor veggie.

You are not limited to ingredients. Simply, you must make Carrot a relevant and almost primary ingredient in your dish.

Rules
  • Three dishes minimum. Think Appetizer, Main, and Dessert (But it doesn't matter really .. it just has to flow!). Drinks do not count as a dish, but you can make them
  • As stated, each dish must feature the main ingredient (Carrot) in a primary role
  • Entries must be posted by February 3rd. This gives you ample time to think of ideas and actually cook the meal

Posting Format
When you are done your dish, post your topic in the General forum. Each topic needs the following:
- An outline of all the ingredients you used for each meal (Don't need measurements, just what was used) .. A picture of all the ingredients helps put it into perspective
- A play by play of each dish you made for the meal. You can go into a lot of detail, step by step or be more minimal. Think of what the people will like
- Once the topic is posted, post a link to it on this thread

Voting
Voting will be done by the general populous in a poll thread once all the entires are in

Prizes
- GLORY!
- To start, I will offer one free premium membership for you or a friend.
- The winner will be able to select the next rounds ingredient and timeline

That's it! Any questions, just ask here. You've got just under 2 weeks to get a 3 course dinner complete. Let's see what you GW'ers can do!

Glad you like the ingredient / nice enthusiasm :)

I'll be most likely doing my dish this weekend as I have it all off, so expect my post on the weekend. Hopefully I'm not the first one, but if I am, then atleast I will de-virginize this

Carrot cake, carrot cupcake, carrot pie, etc. There are tons of desserts you can make with the almighty carrot. Good luck to all participants!

Hey that's a pretty good choice for an ingredient! I'm having trouble thinking of a starter at the moment but I'll think of something.. Should be fun!

The point of this, and Iron Chef in general is to be creative with ingredients. It would be no fun to say make a three course dinner with Beef, Carrots, and Cream as your primary ingredients as it'd be too easy .. plus I would love a BEEF DESSERT

it just needs to be featured. so like, no orange chicken with fried rice with carrots in it, but if you figured out CARROT CHICKEN then it'd be okay. just incorporate it in the dish as much as possible, I think people will be able to tell if you just made some shit and added carrots to garnish, vs an actual distinguishing part of the dish.

Ya, don't feel overwhelmed here.

Your dish doesn't have to be like pure Carrot. A nice piece of chicken with a good carrot sauce will do, or a Risotto with Carrot as the main role, etc etc

is it necessary for us to... prepare all the courses at the same time

or can we do them at any time over the 2 week period?

Think of it like making a 3 course dinner, but I doubt anyone would notice/care if you did them separately, like if you posted it correctly it would look like you just made it all in one day, but the point is to create a three course dinner that flows from piece to piece :)

Oh wait, I just thought of a dessert!! XD

BTW, it'd be awesome to have Cream cheese(Philadelphia) be the ingredient for a round in the future.

I'd hate cream cheese cause I'm allergic to dairy :p

actually this entire competition will be weird for me due to my allergies .. so much limitations, but there is a lot of substitutes

Cool, I'm in on this. Now, I just need to think of something more original than carrot cake for the desert.
