I haven't read the artist's statement because the "game" itself is pretty self-explanatory. It was kind of cool when I noticed that the characters changed in appearance over time, but that was really the extent of my being impressed by it.

Also I was saying to Marcus it one of the 53542 better games I could've seen when I clicked on this topic could've been something like THE FOUNTAIN THE GAME

Like I'm sure when people see "best 5 minute game" they think more of like some short film where they packed all this cool stuff into a very short span of time so the message is pretty poignant even if it's a simple one - but as a film it could've taken years to make. This looks like it was a game made in 5 minutes to last 5 minutes

I was actually pretty deeply touched by this, especially after reading what he had to say about it.

The first time I played it, I got the wife and happily marched on. I couldn't reach some chests, but I didn't mind so much. When she died, I actually felt a lump in my throat because it was just so abrupt. My character just hunched over and went on slowly, and I couldn't help but feel a bit sad.

The second time, I went on without her, and though I got more chests, everything just felt so lonely.

I played again, and I just couldn't stand to go through without company. I took the wife again, and when she died, I just stayed by her because I didn't see any point in going any further without her.

I liked it but I guess I'm not going to read the guy's note

I thought it was cool that someone made something like this, but if he's taking it so seriously it pretty much kills it. it's kind of neat but if you're going to call it art and analyze it then it's pretty lame!

As in, you're walking around and suddenly your character is dead and gone forever?

the game was alright but froze my computer when i tried to exit. I didnt really think of it as life while i was playing it. it seemed more of an adventure where you meet this girl and you guys go together. pretty much it :/
