I started playing this game a few weeks ago at my friends house (which is why I'm only so far in the game). It was love at first fight! I love the game engine and the game has an extremely good balance of situational strategy, and personal style strategy. I'm currently in the castle, and it seems I'm near the end (I just got Ashley and then used her to get the Broken Butterfly).

I'm starting this thread for random tips and tricks and other crap you know about Resident Evil 4.  :fogetguns:

Happy face exploding. ^.^

Weapons.... hm... The pistol.

The pistol has 4 forms throughout the game you can aquire. The original, the 9mm, is a piece of junk and you should upgrade it as soon as possible. The second pistol you get (or should get) is the Punisher. It's comepletely free. All you have to do is use your map to locate these little blue medallions (you have to shoot 10/15) and shoot them. After you enter the cemetary, you should be able to shoot a couple more blue medallions to fill your quota. The punisher has the special ability to shoot through enemies, but you'll rarely use it for that purpose. Still, the Punisher is much better than the 9mm. Next, the Red9. The shopkeeper eventually sells it. It is EXTREMELY powerful for a pistol, especially after you fully upgrade it. I also recommend buying the stock for it, as the pistol is a precise weapon, and you don't want your aim twitching. Finally, the shopkeeper eventually sells a new kind of pistol that has good power and steady aim. DON'T BUY IT! The Red9 is much better as long as you have a stock attached.

The pistol should be your weapon of choice, as it has the most ammo, and if used correctly, can be the most efficient gun. Use it whenever you can, but don't forget you'll find plenty of ammo to use your other guns, so don't be afraid to use them when necessary. When using the pistol, aim for the enemy's heads for the most damage, or shoot them in the leg to either A. knock them on the ground to stall them or let you knife them, or B. knock them to their knees so you can suplex them.

Never underestimate the power of your pistol. :D

Shoot the enemy zombies in their weak spot for massive damage, but everyone knows that.
