Then figure out what is one of the most horrible "type the letters that you see" I have yet to encounter.
Step 5
You will be informed of your loss, then be given your 48 hour gold key, to be entered into your xbox 360 anytime till feb '09
Step 6
Hit the back button on your browser and repeat from Step 3. Your browser should keep the info in so you only have to insert/change one letter in your username and email to continue.

Those 48h trials expire. I'm not sure about all, but some expire. I had to setup a bunch of xbox live accounts for a promotion at work once, and this pile of 20 trial cards my boss handed me were all invalid after only a few months of being issued to us.

I got that a few times, it means its waiting for a key to be generated. Just wait a while and a key should pop up in place of the "....".

I've seen worse "enter the letters" things...

Back when I downloaded SNES Roms, I found some site, that would swap out a random 3-tone background (black, white, gray) and random, rotated letters.(black), and a random font (symbols anyone?)

seriously, I've seen a completely black background, with a few white lines..., I've also seen a few 6's as 9's, vise versa, and a few ferris wheels (from symbols)
