Well, LOST is back!

It just aired it's first episode of the fourth season tonight, and it was great. The rest of this post obviously contains spoilers from Episode 1, so do not continue reading unless you wanted to know what happened or have already seen it. The policy in this topic regarding spoilers will be that once the show has aired in America it's fair game to be discussed here without spoiler text. If you have inside info about upcoming episodes that have not yet aired, then that should be spoilerified.

Now that that's out of the way, onto my thoughts!

I was glad that it was a Hurley-centric episode, and so much more happy that instead of flash backs we're getting flash forwards now. With Hurley mentioning the "Oceanic 6" I got flashbacks of the 4400 (lol) but now I'm wondering who the other 3 people who get off the island are, and how Hurley ends up leaving since he did side with Locke.. Hmm, the dynamic between the two groups is going to be interesting to watch in the next couple of episodes. I can't wait!

What was with Charlie though? He was pointed out by another patient to Hurley so I find it more difficult to believe that he was in Hurley's imagination.. Yet the writers have denied time and again the purgatory theory.. I really don't know what to believe at this point.. tricky tricky. Also, I have to say that Jacob really freaks me out.. I don't know, there's just something so frightening about an invisible, sometimes visible man just sitting in a rocking chair in the middle of an abandoned house.. *shudders*. I really hope that he's explored further as time goes on.

We're supposed to get this impression that Naomi's people are extremely evil and will kill everyone but really I just don't see that happening. I mean, I don't see what their motivation could be besides being a rival company interested in the island and the mysterious things going on it, but to come in to kill people for no reason? I'm not seeing it.

Well, I could go on further but what are some of your thoughts on this episode?

I vageuly remember the stuff that happened in seasons 1-3, so alot of it was kinda shady for me. I'm not really sure if I enjoyed it or not, but at the same time I like the direction it's going and the way they're extending the storyline. Obviously it seems the writers are going to be playing with our mentality towards certain characters as they did with Ethan Rom.

Like Mateui, the choice as Hurley as the center of the episode was awesome. Having Jack on each pilot is freggin boring , and Hurley IS one of the best characters so.

I'm a bad writer, I'm a bad typist, I can't really explain what I want to say here. Mateuit got it all covered. It's a very satisfying episode and so far this season will exceed season 3. After all, focus on mystery and suspense has been restored as much as it can at this time.

I just purposefully skipped reading both posts here because of spoilers and then I realised I'm being dumb because there would never be spoilers in the first episode of a show that takes snail's pace to a pretty damning new low.

I thought they should have ended it at a 2nd season, because that first season was amazing, 2-3 have just been dragging it on really, although I probably will see this season because I hate unanswered cliff hangers!

And does anyone if Lost is supposedly going to be 9 seasons!, finish in 2010 or something? heard it somewhere.

It's going until the 6th season, with 4, 5, and 6 only having 16 episodes per season.

I've only watched the first season so far, which I bought after watching the Pilot at a friends.

I think that's great. Before the writers had no idea when the show was going to end so they had to drag the story along. Now that they have a definite time table for the number of episodes they have left they can plan accordingly and speed up the pace.

Also, someone screencapped who was sitting in Jacob's chair...

Dun dun dun! Christian is always appearing on the island.

Yeah, I caught that last "Lost Missing Piece" or whatever and it was kinda freaky. I'm wondering though if not all of these manifestations are just the Jacob (or the smoke-thing. Or the Island itself), the real question is though how did these manifestations get off the island in Hurley's flashforward (since the other guy could see him Charlie also)

The eye that followed though. Who was that? Hanging with Christian in the hut.

I thought the first episode was okay. It set up a lot of things for the season (who makes it, who doesn't) and with Naomi's... Weird way of doing things it cast a bit of doubt as to the outsiders' motives. It's not Penny's boat but they're probably not as bad as Locke or Ben wants to paint them as. There'll probably be a bunch of factions being set up. (Though I think Penny's faction won't be present until next season)

The actual first episode's content was a bit empty though. Though I also understand why they basically just redid the last season's finale since it's been a while. What we got to know was that Charlie died, that Naomi (re)died, that the outsiders weren't Penny's and that contact was made with them. The only real progression was the divide between the ones who wanted to be rescued and those who didn't.

(Also interesting in the flashforward where Jack doesn't want to get back but in some time when he's grown a beard he desperately wants to. What makes him want to go back? I guess that'll be revealed and there's not a whole lot to speculate on at the moment)

Alright some random thoughts. It's good to get the Lost fix now again after nearly a year. Let's just hope that strike ends so we get a 16 episode season and not an 8 episode one.

I really like the direction this season is going, and it actually seems like they're stepping up the
pace. This pilot is probably the best one since the 1st season.

Other than that, the Character playing Ben said, during an interview,

I thought it was a great season premiere episode. It had a lot of "What" and "Oh Shit" moments. The whole Jacob part was somewhat scary... was that another house Hurley saw when he ran?

Something I really do enjoy are the flash forwards. I always like knowing what happens to the characters in a film/series after the main events. Usually films end right after the main guy survives an explosion. You know he survived but you don't know what happened in his life afterwards. That's kinda boring to me. The Flash forwards in Lost however tells you this... to a certain extent. I personally think the episodes will eventually catch up to the Flash forwards and the final season will deal with the Oceanic 6 going back to save the rest.

Wtf was with that black guy that visited Hurley?!

And the Oceanic 6...Jack, Kate, Hugo, and? ANy guesses? What happened to the rest?

Whos funernal was that, that no one showed up too? My thoughts are Lock is still on the island at that time. I can't see him leaving it.

Ok guys, what the fuck is going on.

As you probably know, I read alot of Marvel comic books. Now, alot of the books from my pull this month have the OCEANIC AIRLINES logo somewhere, usually on some sort of VEHICLE. What I've seen so far is in Daredevil #104 and New Avengers Annual #2.

IS THIS SOME KIND OF SIGN.

ARE HEROES LOST AND MARVEL IN THE SAME UNIVERSE!?

1. The shorter seasons is the dumbest shit ever. I never watched Alias but apparently Abrams was very willing to end it before dragging it on, despite being very popular still. Well that's good, I like to know this isn't something that will be on forever. But instead of being decent people they shortened the seasons so they could be on TV longer. Filler is better than that in my opinion.

2. Shinan's right and I just noticed this, almost nothing new happened this episode. Pretty disappointing looking back on it. It wasn't bad and they did throw us a lot of bones, but the guy landing on the island was pointless. Season 2 and 3 had such great finales but both piss poor first episodes back, and apparently 4 is no different.

3. Love flash forwards hopefully flash backs won't be completely gone. I enjoy guessing which it is.

4. Also, my guess at the 6 is Jack, Hurley, Kate, Sawyer (unless another male character with a strong connection to Kate jumps in), Ben (dies and has funeral), Locke (horribly depressed again)

Oceanic Airlines isn't a purely Lost thing. It's been used in several movies/TV shows.

Oh man, Confirmed Dead was an EXCELLENT episode. The new cast and characters are great, ESPECIALLY Jeff Fahey and Ken Leung. That single episode answered a shitload of questions but the same time added so much more. It seems this time the show is much more focused and it actually has a direction. The flashbacks are really epic also.

I'm REALLY digging this.

Just want to say that I'm going to be a few days behind on checking this topic because I don't want to run into any spoilers. Not that there would be any but if you're going to post something you think might be considered a spoiler just put it in spoilers. Better safe than sorry. Thanks guys.
