Hello all.

Perhaps you can help me locate a good music website which I could write for? Currently I write for www.firesideometer.com but they seem to be pretty inactive at the moment so I am considering writing for another site. I'd prefer something which isn't too biased towards one genre as I'd want to interview musicians from plenty of genres (actually probally just metal or hiphop haha) Also if the site can be a little popular but small enough so my reviews and stuff is appreciated that would be cool.

Any ideas (thanks!)

I had a friend who wrote for Stylus Magazine, and he just asked. Magma King writes for the local Independent and pretty mucht he same situation. unfortunately I dont use metal or hiphop mags or sites other than blogs so :( but try locally?

just submit album reviews or articles to the mainsite, if you can keep it up then a music mag might be plausible.

I would totally be keen for that.

IT would be good to get a heap of people from all over the world to maybe start some form of online fanzine?

Yeah, I think we got it the first time.

no you really didn't.

okay here we go.

first off, let's look at some basic econ theory. when creating a business you fulfill a need. this applies to all theories, from long tail to your most cutthroat capitalist pro-monopolist ideas. so what need would some limited guys at gw fulfill?

and you are limited, trust me. DS and I download so much more music than you probably do and we're both hilariously limited. I get 90% of my music recs from some 30 year old guy on SA, because he knows his shit! we do not!

please do not start a music magazine with zero credentials and zero audience. I'd much rather see you guys submit reviews to the preexisting site and then if you can keep it up for a good amount of time (NOTE: THIS IS INSANELY HARD) trying your hand at a separate magazine!

ps: I ran a music blog and invited like six people on it. only wash cycle and myself ended up posting more than three times.

I actually would also like to write to a magazine or music website. The one thing I wanted to do first though is actually read through and through my music theory and composing theory books to get a better base (I already know quite a lot). Plus I'm Metal Director at CIXS The Edge so I get lots of metal promos and shit

I for one study journalism so I dont really need a crash course by an internet guru. Anywho even if this idea doesn't work I'm sure the process will be fun. I've written with WC before and had no problems doing regular reviews so if the site doesnt work then yeah I will try gw but I'm going to give this a shot.

crushed by a CaRRot CuSine is right, but since there isn't a main site to post to then there's no harm in getting a little spot to practice and see if you can gain a small following.

Set up a wordpress.com or blogger.com blog (or if you have your own hosting, set up wordpress on that), get a free theme and you're ready to roll in terms of a place to post.
