Which direction does the window face? I mean, Sarevok's idea could work if you switch the TV and the bed. A bed in front of the window seems romantic enough to get you head every non-cloudy night.
The problem with that is when light shines through the sliding glass door, it creates a greenhouse effect and the whole thing turns into a giant glass furnace.
If I can figure out a way to keep the glass from turning into an enormous natural light heater, which is less than ideal in the summer, where here it routinely gets up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit, then yeah! I like it!
I currently have thermal drapes over the glass, but those only seem to marginally decrease the heat that radiates. The glass faces South, so it gets the sun ALL THE TIME.
I'm thinking of some kind of reflective film, that appears mirrored on the outside, but tinted from the inside. Or perhaps an outdoor awning to put the glass in shade.
