how does TF2 look on directX 8, and is it worth the graphical hit for FPS?
You can't use any of the advanced pixel shaders or effects like HDR or Motion Blur, but if you're sacrificing for performance they're already off anyways.
I need to find a way to stop my card from overheating when things get too... actiony(engy defense, or demo/soldier rush), or graphics intensive. My computer shuts down for 15 minutes when my card starts to overheat.
Open up the case and check that the fans are spinning properly, and have an unobstructed path to your video card. Maybe even clean up the dust if theres enough of it. If one of the fans is dead/dying, or you got a spare spot for an intake/exaust fan, pick one up at best buy or circuit city or a similar store for about $5. If even THAT doesn't work, you may want to try underclocking it a bit just to avoid the shutdowns.
I love the medic, but only when I feel confident in my team (or they don't have one). If they aren't able to push I feel almost forced to pick the soldier.
