Ok, I have over recommended specs for this but i'm wondering how glitchy this will be

specs:

Intel Celeron 2.80Ghz
1270MB RAM
DX9 (duh)
Geforce 5600GT 256mb pci graphics card
and a 10mbs dsl internet connection

I think thats all?  how will the game run?

Yeah also these days mentioning the video memory of your card is actually like 100% irrelevant.  What matters is the series number and 5600 is pretty old-school!

Anyway I'd bet that you could probably run the game pretty well as long as you turn off shaders and other fancy stuff.

You won't be able to run the advanced shaders like HDR or Motion Blur or Color Correction, or run at any insanely high resolutions, but that system should be sound. My friend had a 2ghz celeron and a geforce 5500 and it ran ok for him except for  some framerate drops at the more hectic scenes (I think he had all settings on medium). But he got a 8600 and hasn't had a prob since. HL2 has to be one of the least resource intensive next-gen game engines out there, so it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Valve have mentioned in an e-mail to a fan that the Overhealer unlockable wasn't working out as they'd hoped, and they're no longer planning to include it

Fuck yes, wait 6 months for an update and they decide it's shit (which it was) and are canning it. Next update, december 09

i think overhealer refers to the hp ray gun that was going to give a maximum of 200% hp instead of the 150% of the regular medic hp ray (at least i think it went like that since heavy was supposed to get 600hp with it while he only gets 450 on the regular or something i never paid too much attention) but has no uber.

also so what if they ditched that? it doesn't mean that they wont make the rest of the new stuff.

OR DOES IT????

I don't see why people are so impatient for updates. I mean, I mainly really want to see Goldrush but it's not like players are "completing" "endgame" content like in a MMORPG. Since Valve is adding new shit like the now-canned Overhealer gun, I'd much rather than balance them to oblivion in betas before releasing them to the thousands of gamers playing TF2. Nothing would be more annoying than having to deal with imbalanced shit for a month while they go back to the drawing board and prepare a rebalancing patch. Especially when the game, as is, is surprisingly balanced for something offering nine distinct classes.

It's only been what, 2 months since they gave us Badlands? FPS games rarely get as much patch treatment as TF2 is anyway, so I don't understand why everyone is chewing Valve out for taking their time. I want new content too but not at the expense of quality!!!

Of course people are impatient for an update they said would happen like a month ago (and now isn't happening at all)

But, like, I can cope with the game never changing again since it's already very balanced. I still play CS:S and that hasn't had anything but minor bug fixes in centuries (permanence is what allows people to get better/competetive at online games)

cs:s got great custom maps though. Can't really say that about tf2 imo.

And tf2 only shipped with 6 maps. Most FPS games tend to ship with 10-20, and multiple game modes. (TF2 effectively only has ctf and control point).

And just to clarify

That's spot on. ALSO the 200% would not decay over time, it's a permenant increase (until lost, of course). So in the trials a medic was sitting in spawn and overhealing everyone before they left....and it also means a sniper can't kill a heavy with a fully charged headshot anymore, so they are NEAR invincible with an overhealer and a regular medic.

This is the fault of the developers, why?

with cs:s they didn't have to make new maps to keep it alive as they were already there which is not the case with tf2. if they want to keep the game alive they have to do things on their own. plus didn't cs:s ship with more maps? atleast i know it shipped with better ones >

What do you mean BETTER? There's nothing wrong with the current TF2 maps apart from how few there are.

it would be really cool if there would be official maps ( or custom ones for that matter ) that do NOT use the fucking desert/whatever theme.

Maybe you're just don't like the game much. I've had fun on every single map (even badlands)

edit: even granary

I find all the maps pretty fun, hydro is the worst for me though. And a lot of the custom ones are good, maybe you're just too picky.

Gravel Pit, 2fort, Dustbowl, Well, they are all pretty awesome. I'm fine with waiting for the update. I wish they'd make all the secondary weapons first then release them at once, then release maps more frequently also.

edit: Granary is awesome. Badlands is fun, just usually its fucking unbalanced as shit and people don't know how to play it. Oh well. And I guess I like playing Hydro as long as I start on a certain side (fun sentry gun locations). The one that is indoor. Hell, Hydro confuses me.

They also usually ship for 20-30 dollars more (even more if you're considering TF2 in the orange box is literally only like 10 bucks) and don't have nearly as many actively played player made maps.

Frontlines, CoD4, Enemy Territory Quake Wars, Battlefield 2, all shipped at 49-59-69 dollars depending on where you live and the game. I'd even go so far as to say none are as fun but that's pretty subjective. ON TOP of that, maps like Dustbowl and Hydro contain more than one playing field if you want to split hairs.

those games got single player though and if you split the dustbowl maps up the games could end in 2 minutes. I really wish for another set of textures too, there's only so much good looking stuff you can make with all the desert stuff.
