This is a general topic for the entire fighting game genre. YOU LIKE FIGHTING GAMES? Well I like them too, so lets talk about them.

So after a successful Season 1 Ranking Battles all around I think it's time to start a new Season of Ranking Battles, consisting of more games, more matches, and (hopefully) more opponents!

First things first...
#capcom is a channel for fighting games. If you like fighting games at all, this is the channel for you. If you want to learn to play fighting games, this is the channel for you. If you want to beat someones face in in a game of Street Fighter 2 or Garou, this is the channel for you.

To clear up some misconceptions:
-We play and talk about more than Capcom fighting games. SNK, Sammy, etc are all allowed!
-You don't have to pay for anything! We use ROMS & Emulators, or pirated games. Though, we do recommend you support the genre for paying for things if you do enjoy them, of course.
-You don't have to play at all, you can come to just hang out & discuss fighting games. As long as you love the genre!

Do not ask in the topic for links to ROMs. Common sense should tell you what to do: PM me or ask in the channel.

Ranking Battles + Tournaments:
OK, well, Raziel is going to be departing for like, 1-2 months cause of real life issues

I'm not quite sure what alls going to be done for Ranking Battles + Tournaments fully yet, but the way I see it we have:
-Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament (Hosted by Sarhan, who needs to visit this channel goddamnit.)
-Garou - Mark of the Wolves Season 2 Ranbats (shoe in, 90% of the damn channel plays!)
-Melty Blood: Act Cadenza Season 2 Ranbats (shoe in, but I might need to find someone else to host this for me.)
-???

I'm wanting to add another game to the mix, but I don't know which. This is pretty much up to you guys, but make sure its something that can be easily gotten for free, and netplayable easily.

Some of what I'm thinking:
Guilty Gear XX #Reload (for the PC)
A King of Fighters game (idk, 98...2k2?)
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo

Garou Ranbat Infos:
Starting Date + Time: March 1st at 10:00PM Central, then meet every Saturday at the same time after.
Ending Date: June 7th.
No prize at this time.
After June 7th, we will have a normal big tournament as we usually do, then the 3rd Season will start.

You get 1 point per win, round robin, best 3 out of 5 rounds, 1 match, if a person quits no one gets their points from that person, if a person forfeits to you, you get 1 point.

Goat: 19 points.

MaD: 13 points.
handsome lamb: 7 points.
Bisse: 3 points.
Man-o-War: 2 points.

As for the genre in general, I am really fucking looking forward to playing Street Fighter 4 & the new King of Fighters. Seeing the old Capcom & SNK rivalry back brings a tear to my eye ;-;

I mostly just play Garou - Mark of the Wolves anymore, what games do you guys play? I used to play a lot more but I don't really have time for all this other stuff. I play SC3 casually, and I've played DOA4, and I play Tekken DR at a friends house, but thats about it.

Speaking of upcoming fighters, am I the only one disappointed with the Soul Caliber series? The original on the DC kicked so much ass, but the 4th one looks really terrible. They've just gotten worse and worse.

BTW what the hell is Ranbats?

Ranking Battles, we basically all meet on 1 day in the channel, and play each other in a round robin, and you get points per win. Then at the end of the season all the points are added up and OH SHITS you see who has the most. It's basically a series of mini round robin tournaments, really.

And yes, I agree about SC.

2k2 gets my vote, but what about third strike? anyone still playing that?

k so I guess I'll try to find these games on emulators...they seem pretty obscure, so wish me luck.

Also, 98 on GGPO is a big ++ for it, but we'll see what everyone else says too...

I'd prefer GGXX, but anything on ggpo sounds good too.

I really don't know what to suggest though. I just got started on playing Third Strike recently but you guys are probably all sick of PARRY WARS.

Here's a playlist of #capcom's best Garou players that I'm hoping to create and keep up with up-to-date videos (yeah i know i'll be away for 1-2 months but whatever). It gives a pretty good insight of what most of us can do, ie: DN can do one thing: get destroyed by my Hoku and play a random ass Grant and Bisse's grant doesn't bother hitconfirming because he's gonna hit you with the super anyway because of 100+ ms lag.

It's still pretty decent quality videos, not Howard Arena level of play but it's above the online average for sure.

You could always hook me up with your info & I can upload stuff to it?

This is totally understandable depending on your keyboard (i am assuming you meant for the PC)

I used to have a really shitty kb that like, couldn't read 2 buttons at the same time, so anything that wasnt SF/Garou was impossible.

Its just that, SO MANY COMBINATIONS I can't fathom it all, plus I cant be bothered to remember everyones moves, so I just shortcut it. I know it's kinda cheap, but..... I'm not that good.

Whereas in Tekken (mostly 5), I'm the best in my Village

3rd Strike ranbat, maybe? I'd definitely enter that.

I don't know what GGPO is.

Also I like the playstyle of 2k2 more, just more familiar with it I guess.


I would have mentioned 3S but we had a tournament for it not too long ago iirc.

In conclusion: KoFXI should be emulated soon so I could be all over that.

GGPO is lagless online play with like anyone (even across the border dudes)

i'd say kof 2002 as well. i'd hate to see us choose kof 98 not because its more popular, but just because its on ggpo

ggpo is a pretty big reason, it is flawless play it is LITERALLY as good as playing as if someone is right next to you, all the time, for free.

It is better than X-Box Live / PSN most of the time.
