Everyone has their preferred fighting style, while you dodge/short hop, I prefer to roll (I actually messed up my joystick on my controller for doing that so much.) I find you can get an advantage when you roll cause it can easily allow you to grab your opponents or do a quick smash or a normal Super smash. I've been used to doing it for so long in Melee, that it comes as natural now. Either way, though yuo have your complaints I have mine, we'll just keep it at that for now when we meet again in the battlefield.

Also... why take the game seriously? We play this game for amusement... I don't know anyone who actually takes this game seriously... O_o;

Uh, you do know Smash is one of the biggest competitive games in America and was a featured game at MLG, is a major event at MLG Gamebattles (the online counterpart to MLG), Evolution (world's biggest fighting games tournament) and was also considered for entry in the WCG and CPL leagues, right? There's hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes given for Smash alone every years, and Brawl is already confirmed to be a feature game at Evolution 2008 and is the second most popular online tournament at MLG Gamebattles currently (beating out Halo 3, Gears of War and Call of Duty 4 and losing only to R6 Vegas 2, mostly because Vegas 2 has the whole new game hype about it still which will probably die down in the next week or so).

Hell, Smashboards are only one of the many competitive Smash forums and they alone have more logged on members in dead hours than we have total active members in these forums. They even have 3 times our current members total, which makes them the biggest fighting games-related forums on the internet.

Okay, okay, I get it, I get it... Smash is the next FF7... O_o; Don't use the Book on me please... but in all seriousness here, they actually donate over 1000 dollars as prize money in Smash!? That there is news to me.

Iirc, the prize money for first place at Evo2k7's grand finals in Melee was upwards of 10,000 dollars but I might be confusing it with some other game. And that's only for one tournament.

Overhype I say... that's why I wouldn't be hangin' around in a Smash forum, majority of them would be those cocky guys, and there are some who are godly, etc. Iono, its just not worth goin' to the Smash Boards, I wouldn't be suprised if the money is for Halo 3, but I think you'd be correct in sayin' that it would be for Smash seeing how it created more hype and PROBABLY more sales then Halo 3. (from seeing a comment earlier about 2 copies a second or something like that.)

No no, that's Melee, not Brawl. Brawl's competitive scene is still in its infancy, Melee's been going strong in competitions since 2001 and onward. I'm mostly thinking I might be mixing the prize money with that of MvC2 but I think MvC2 might actually have been higher with something like 30,000 in prize money. The fighting games community is crazy for money, seriously. Some money MATCHES (not tournaments, just matches between two guys) hit up $3,000 and such sometimes.

Smashboards are a kind of mixed bag tho yeah, you do get the LOL FINAL DESTINATION FOX ONLY guys sometimes but a lot of them are generally helpful and don't really let tiers and tournament victories dictate how they play, this is especially true for the best of the best who are generally really cool guys to hang out with. It's a different kind of world but it's not as cocky as some might think, it's just that they generally disfavor the "scrub" mentality that some things are set to be done one way and that using glitches or disabling stuff is somehow against the game designers' intents, which has nothing to do with how a game can be played at a high level.

Ah, I see... (also did tiny bit of research 120 units per minutes, damn that was a lot... especially in 1 day.) But anyhoo enough of that, you said that I had to dodge/short hop more, hopefully one of my characters gave you some challenge, and Mr. G&W made up for the battle you seen on youtube. :D

Yeah, I'm thinking G&W and other small characters are actually really hard to deal with as Ganon since they tend to go under his limbs and his down air because of his bulk. I need to be more careful around him because he's not awful shit anymore and I tend to forget that then FORWARD SMASH OH GOD IT ACTUALLY DOES DAMAGE NOW and I die.

I wonder if it's possible for someone to make some kind of Brawl WFC hack to let people play online while bypassing Nintendo's shitty system. It is pretty obvious that the matchmaking, lag, and other features are pretty lame and could use improvement, and there must be a way for enterprising individuals to work something out. I can only dream...

The two things I want is the lag to be fixed, and when playing Wifi the Basic Brawl thing to be fixed so you can see who you're battling, because what if we want to battle that person again? There were a few that were fun to battle.

Man, G&W forward smash in Melee was amazing! What are you saying!

But he definitely got stronger. His nair and bair both have multiple hits and *gasp* knock back, and his recovery is much better with the auto-parachute. Not to mention his dair is like Toon Link's! Also he might be the only character not to lose speed from Melee. He moves just as fast, which in comparison with people like Fox, who're hella slow(er) now, is awesome.

Yeah, G&W is so fun to use, his down A is simalar to Yoshi's Down B, but I always like his in air Forward A, its so awesome. But he doesn't really have a POWERFUL smash attack, but his final smash does make up for it, seeing how you can cheap out your opponent with it. (if they're really determined not to get killed by Octopus.) Remember "Don't tease the Octopus kids." :D

His forward smash is awesome, what do you mean?

Also I always thought his FS sucked. How do you cheap out with it?

Haha that's actually pretty much the image I have in my mind when I play against most people. It's like HEY HE SHOULD BE TRYING TO HIT ME BACK WITH - WHAT THE FUCK FALCON PUNCH? then I die.

I use 5 stock, too. I think it's pretty interesting how people gravitate towards 3 or 5, when 4 is (I believe) the tournament regulation number.

That's because matches in Brawl take longer than they did in Melee. Characters live longer and in order to keep tournaments the same length, the stock number has been changed to 3.

That is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Hilarious.

Also, I'll be online tonight on and off. Just finished two horrible finance exams so I need to unwind a bit.

Wow, Luigi sure has a strange final smash, and so does dedede.

EDIT: I sure wish Ken Hoang could join this tournament. For those of you who are out of the know.

Hey, don't diss King Dedede's final smash, his is probably one of the most deadliest final smashes in the game! Aside from Marth's Cheap 1 hit KO Shot Critical Hit!
