Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword has just released on the DS. I do not know if there is a topic or not, but i felt that there should be a release topic
The game supposedly takes place before the upcoming ninja gaiden 2 and it looks fantastic.Ryu Hayabusa is the main character but there is also a female character that is playable as well. Graphics look REALLY good for a DS(nintendo-haters can argue with that tough) and it utalizes the touchscreen flawlessly. Here are some screenies!:

combat looks smooth and bosses promise to be big!

Ninpo is also included, Ryu can unleash spells such as big fireballs or bolts of lightning.

Here is one of the many ninpos of Ryu! Shineeeey!

like i said, bosses are big!

Well, Ninja Gaiden Sigma was one of the most frustrating video game experiences I've ever had, and since this is HANDHELD and likely has some bullshit stylus usage to make things LESS FUN I honestly can't see this being worth playing in any way unless you're a fan of the series.

I'll probably download it just so I don't judge it by it's cover, but I doubt my opinion will change.

Looks awful.

I heard that it was actually quite good, being one of the best DS action games out yet. Its no God of War:COL, but its pretty damn good.

Oh my god man Ninja Gaiden Sigma is just about my favorite game ever made.  Did you think it was too hard or something?  Because you can unlock easy difficulty by sucking at the game.

Anyway I thought this was the worst idea ever when I first heard about it.  A character-action brawler with DS touchscreen controls where you like stab and slice at the screen?  But apparently journalists on all the podcasts I listen to are shocked by how well it works and while it's not supposed to be as good as like a full Ninja Gaiden game it's a really good handheld action game and one of the better ones on DS.  I'm sort of intrigued but I don't know guys I just suspect that the game would have been better if you had normal controls.

I unlocked that very early. I don't play this sort of game much with the exception of Devil May Cry, so I'm not great. But the thing that really pissed me off was making it to the FINAL STAGE (the volcano or whatever) and having absolutely no potions, having died 80 times while shit crumbles around you and not knowing where to jump (or not making the jump) only to get up to the top to find a boss who seems easy enough until he starts shooting FLAMING BIRDS or something at you and with no potions in your inventory, and none available elsewhere, it's all a matter of luck and running around like a chicken taking every chance to slash without getting hit because you know that precious little health is all you've got to count on.

And in the last stage each of the gimmes you get when you die mysteriously never make it into your inventory. So you can be like YES A POTION THANKS RANDOM NINJA GIRL and then get to the boss and try to use and HEY WAIT WHERE IS IT???

Yeah man the final boss scenario was pretty ill-conceived because they block you off from resources.  I don't remember exactly why but I remember being upset because I was stuck at the final boss and not able to restock on items.  But I didn't die enough times to get the gifts from some random ninja girl so I can't comment on that.

Games like this are one of my favorite things so I guess I like them when they are brutally hard.  I usually focus on RPGs because I love making numbers go up but other than Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest I usually prefer Ninja Gaiden or DMC or other games like that over anything else.  The thing I love about Ninja Gaiden is that it seems to have much more room for being better or worse at the game than many other games of its type.  But if you aren't really serious about adventure-brawlers or whatever they call these games (I don't think there's a specific genre term??) they probably suck because they are always so hard.

team ninja made the same game too many times, its nice to see them make somthing different :)
And this is like the DS's god of war chains of olympus. I hate the fact that the game is a lowely "T" game, and there is no blood in the anime stills which is dissapointing :/

all i can say at this point is, this game ain't screwing around. Its a beast of it's own on the DS!

Actually Ninja Gaiden Sigma was developed by someone else.

This game is already out?  I was under the assumption I had at least another week which is why I got FF:CC for the DS.  I'll be picking this one up next then I suppose; I really got hooked into it from the demo at work despite how short it was.

you know, i'd rather play a sidescroller than something like this with grainy, low-res, shitty 3d.  seriously, this looks terrible from those screenshots, and i'm sure fans would welcome a new 2d ninja gaiden since i think it's been about TWENTY YEARS since the last one.

In motion it really doesn't look that bad.  It's definitely low poly of course, but it still gets the job done rather nicely with it mainly having interactive elements on top of prerendered environments.  All of this being in the "IMO" sense of course - not that I'd be against another 2D Gaiden game of course.  Heck, a new Legend of Kage is coming to DS and I'm gonna be all over that after playing the original on the Virtual Console; but this game in particular is no slouch despite the Nintendo DS' not exactly being all that powerful.

True, true and more true. I'd love to play a 2D Ninja Gaiden on a handheld. =D

This is the greatest idea ever.  "You suck!  Special Easy Mode Unlocked."

...I thought this was some sort of crossover between Dragon Quest and Ninja Gaiden  :fogetcry:

The first time I noticed a game do this was in Onimusha and it seemed like everyone discovered it at the unreasonable first boss.  However in Ninja Gaiden it isn't made very clear to you that you've unlocked easy mode; you can obviously see that there is a new mode but they call it "ninja dog" instead of "easy" and I don't think that when you unlock it they actually tell you that it's even a different difficulty setting nor whether a ninja dog is mightier than a normal ninja and it's very confusing.

I hate the Xbox version but I fucking love Ninja Gaiden DS. I'm still in shock over how well it controls. Makes me think a Devil May Cry DS game would work perfectly.
