I think the only real complaint about the movie I have is that Jarvis was a computer, which was completely necessary for Gwyneth Paltrow to take a lead role.

The only reason I'd even mention it is because The Avengers movie just won't be the same with Jarvis.

i saw this today and yeah it wasn't terrible. one thing in particular i liked was that at no point did iron man sweep from the skies and rescue pepper from the evil mastermind. i mean she got pretty fucked up near the end, standing in one spot for about 10 minutes screaming "tony omigod!!!" but i kind of read that as a pisstake of damsels? there didn't turn it on it's head though, it was just really over the top and pepper was pretty cool everywhere else.

also this is nick fury

Dude you got continuity fucked up man.

At the moment there are TWO MAJOR marvel universes. Mainstream (Earth-616) and ultimate marvel (Earth-1610).

Earth 616 is where Nick Fury is a white guy who went underground after Secret War, put together a secret super group to fight skrulls, w/e. Ultimate is the one where Nick Fury's likeness is based off Samuel L. Jackson.

no one notices because even though we have fucking satellites everywhere and shit we can't even see a bunch of fucking boxes in the open with the words STARK INDUSTRIES on them

comic books.

1. satillites are useless if you don't know where to look (the military didn't just show up around where stark was...the explosion gave off a heat signature.)

2. Did you not notice that the boxes were covered with some kind of man made canopy?

Saw this yesterday. I was underwhelmed frankly. I'm not a huge robot-fight fan, and even in that light, I would have liked to see Iron Man kick more ass. Movie-wise, it was alright. Robert Downey Jr. was great for the role imo. I don't care about whatever the hell his personal life entails.
However, the whole movie was like a prelude. It had some fun action, some technogeek dream house, some oddly placed Jeff Bridges acting, and on the whole I enjoyed watching it. I say "underwhelmed" because the whole movie I was anticipating the kickass Iron Man song to come on, like in the commercial. It was like... this ticking time bomb waiting to go off, and never did. Made me kinda sad.
As far as comic geekery goes, I have no clue who Iron Man is aside minor information here and there. It's still pretty sweet that Downey Jr is going to continue his portrayal of Tony Stark. That'll really start to tie these Marvel flicks together. Too bad most actors have silly things on their minds, like "career" when opting out of a series. :(
What else? Oh right, I played the Iron Man demo on PS3, and that... really sorta ruined the 'cool factor' of this movie. Which is unfortunate.

He kicked a ton of ass when you realize he killed a ton of people.

the rest of the movie is much closer to the original story arc so it's not me who has the continuity messed up.

Great film, I found it to have a huge parallelism with Batman Begins.
Dig the Downey Jr.
