most games play better on a console so, I'd keep them.  Then again I suffer from, "Once I get rid of it, I want to play it" Syndrome.  If you don't suffer from this, get the ROMS for said games, and sell them to a game store that will actually give you a decent amount (Read: Not GameStop)

You should try to get $5 for the less rare games, and $10-$15 for rarer games (that may not seem like much when they sell them for $25-$50+, but you are NOT going to get that much back)

Also, I'd try to get a DS, I don't know what games are coming out soon, but since it's the newer one, and Nintendo hasn't announce another handheld, it will probably be the system-de-jour for portable games.

Do whatever you want with most of them but for gods sake save the rare ones. Or sell them at a good price, not to some shitty game store! Depending on the games you can get a LOT of money from them, so don't give them away for shit money to EBgames or whatever! Their value will rise with age, so if you keep them for a few years you'll make some good money off of them assuming you know when to sell them - and also assuming they actually are rare games people want.

Worst advice ever. Check what you can get for the games, and don't sell them for any less. There's always a good place to sell it on the internet if you can't figure anything else.

As for what to buy? You're going to buy a DS Lite, with a flash cart, and then you're going to download all the games. YOu know what the DS lite costs, and a flash cart plus memory stick won't cost more than 50-60$. After that you're not going to pay for a single goddamn thing ever again for your DS. The R4 Revolution works wonders, I don't think it plays GBA games though, so that's a bummer, but I can't recommend any other cart since I haven't tried any other cart.

I have an r4, works great. You get to download and play dumb games like zack and cody, and just try out all games for free. It makes sense economically. You pay for r4and save on the games.

On topic: You'd probably be happier with a DS over a Game Boy in the long run.  I guess you have limited income since you are in high school or whatever but you probably won't be for very long and even then I bet you a thousand dollars that pretty soon you'll get some random high schooler job to pay for booze, doritos, and video games.  Buying a Game Boy is not a very good long-term decision in terms of gaming as it is a dead format.  Plus, the DS plays Game Boy games anyway so you still have access to those (however the screen is a little smaller and when the original size is already tiny a millimeter or two makes a difference).

But in all seriousness I'd recommend you get a fucking job and keep your classic games and buy new video games with the money you earn.  I'm assuming you are in school and that is why you do not work.  If that is not the case then shame on you man Jesus Christ.  For someone in school, even working like two nights a week you'll have more spending cash than someone that doesn't pay rent knows what to do with.  Either that or beg your parents for dough which worked for me when I was 16 (that is why I am a bad person).  I know that you aren't playing your classic games so they're just junk now and I generally don't advise packratting but it's sort of like keeping your old action figures where you'll regret it for the rest of your life if you sell them to get money for candy and hookers.  Also I bet you in 30 years that copy of Dragon Warrior will be worth a ridiculous sum of money rather than a decent amount right now.

I can't think of a single major game store that will actually take SNES and NES games.  If you take them to a pawn shop, they'll just scoff at you and offer MAYBE 20 bux for the entire package.  If you actually want money, ebay is your best bet.

If you're really serious about selling, then I'm pretty serious about buying.  Just name a price.

All version of the Atari and the N64 were so mass produced that they're practically value-less.  You might as well sell them because I doubt you'd get much on ebay for the things.

There are all sorts of indie game stores that have enormous stocks of old crap.  Usually every small city will have at least one and metropolitan areas will have several within a convenient drive.  Sometimes you see things like Dragon Warrior IV for $100 or whatever.  So it's not that unusual that he might have a similar store that could give him decent scratch for his collection.

But yeah I don't think Gamestop will even take PSOne games and stuff and that's probably what you mean.
