I think people haven't made a topic about this game because (hopefully) they are not that interested in Mario Kart anymore. It's by far the most stale series I have ever seen as it has been recycling same levels, characters, weapons and ideas since the first game. I actually have to admit that level design does seem a bit better than before this time around but seriously, I have almost completely lost interest in Mario Kart and I doubt I'll get this.

The gayest thing about Mario Kart is how the players behind you always get a handicap and there's no way to turn it off.

The game has the Nintendo brand slapped on it, what to expect? Nintendo is by far the worst company when it comes to making a sequel that is different from the previous game. Sure, going with the winning formula isn't wrong but... let's create some new franchies Nintendo, don't just make games that are basically remakes.

 

I have seen the advert for this on TV a few times now...it really sums up how confident nintendo are of the game.
Back when the wii was new they would show you people using the wiimotes and how that affected things on screen, but in the mario kart add you get a 2 second glimpse of the screen and you see 4 people laughing and holding wiimotes without even doing anything. Pretty bad ad imo

that's pretty bad.  I really don't want to see a bunch of tools playing a game, I want to see the game.

And I'll be getting this game.  The last Mario Kart game I've played was on the N64 and it was a lot of fun.  I never played any of these fancy Double Dash or DS or GBA versions or whatever.

I have a strong dislike for the mariokart games (well and racing/kart games in general since they haven't changed one bit since the mastersystem), but I'll still play it with my family if they want (funnily enough I dislike it the most, play it the least yet always win *_*). It's pretty poor. Some of the tracks are more interesting than the gamecube game (the minecart and shopping mall tracks are ok) but playing it splitscreen, the framerate is absolutely trash. Like playing crysis full res on a ten year old PC. The introduction of bikes throws everything out of whack (they have better handling). The blur on the graphics is really distracting to me (it's like seeing without my glasses on!). Battles feel somewhat weaker with their wide open areas and mass of bots. Lacks the frenzy of playing in such a confined area.
Plus the wii steering wheel is the worst gimmick yet for the system.

Double Dash is a far stronger game despite the few gem levels on this. Like don't bother buying this just pick up the gamecube one, it works on the wii anyways and you'll save money!

I just got the game today, and all I can say is I HIGHLY reccomend it. My buddy's and I have been playing the first 16 tracks since 5' and a serious hat's off to Nintendo for their level design! They really seem to have bothered to make the levels exciting and interesting this time around. Rather than DD's imo rather poor design.

One level for example is Toads new level. At first it may seem a simple dirt track but soon develops into a rather tricky session, involing negotiating a botumless pit using giant mushrooms that bounce you across. I have yet to get across without falling in.

TBH, I could write a whole review about the radness factor of this game. But to keep it short, it's ZANY and fast paced. It's back to what Mario Kart should be.

I'm also glad to see more love for Mario Kart. Also Kentona, if you can, you should try giving Mario Kart even as much as a test spin. I get the vibe this one is much alike it.

Hah! Just unlocked the ability to play as Miis. This just got 67% more fun. The Mii voice is class.

It's a great game n' all, but there are too many retro tracks (half the tracks are retro). It'd be okay if they tarted the tracks up a bit, but the GBA Shy Guy Beach level is just shit 'cause it's a flat level with some trees. Reeks of laziness.

I finished the 50cc cup without even knowing karts could do tricks. Once I got the hang of tricks, the game just opened up all new levels of fun.

Yeah, it'd probably be better if they cut down the number of retro tracks to put more new tracks.

Screw you europeans I want this game already.
