I'm not expecting a godly game but it looks rather fun to play with friends or online, so why not I guess!

Just stopped playing it a few moments ago.  It's not an OMG stellar title but it's simple, crazy fun which is all good in the end.  Can't get used to the Wii Wheel though, tried for quite a few matches but the Wii remote/ nunchuck works as the best scheme for me out of them all. (save for the classic controller as I don't own one)  Battle mode is really nice though and that new Block Fort-ish level works out really nicely since the original Block Fort isn't in this game.  The one here is a lot more connected and a lot more hazardous once the pit covers descend out of sight.

I really like this game. I've gotten semi-used to the wheel but otherwise I use the GC controller. I should give the classic controller a bit more thought, though.

Hope you're gonna add my fc you maggot otherwise I am a very angry dung.

I've only played with the GC and classic controllers and I'd say the GC controller feels better. To me the analog stick felt awkward on the classic controller. I think I'll give the wheel a chance, but seemed awkward when my firend was using it.

And here's my friend code if anyone wants to play against me:

I bought it and regret it already.

Nintendo has finally managed to make a Mario Kart where it doesn't matter what you do, your final place is going to be completely random. It seems like at least two or three times a lap someone gets some goddamn hits-everyone-in-the-game item which manages to fuck me up completely about half the time. And god help you if you ever get anywhere near the front, which is constantly being bombarded so hard that nobody ever stays in first for more than 10 seconds at a time.

Also, something like TWO THIRDS of the courses in this game are remakes of old courses. I'm not even talking about the unlockable content (of which I have seen none yet). I mean that like two thirds of the freaking courses in the first four cups are remakes from the SNES, N64, DS, and Gamecube games. Why is this acceptable?

Maybe it will grow on me, but right now ugh. The races are just too chaotic. There's no incentive to play, because you never get the feeling of IMPROVING. Getting first place feels just as meaningless as getting last.

It's chaotic, but if you're even half good being bombarded by the CPU isn't going to get you away from 1st. Or at least not for long. With others, it's just a matter of how much they can take advantage of raping you, though it is usually more balanced. Online rules.

Also, it's like on the DS, half new, half old. Would've been better if there were more new and less old but.. eh.. shame.

The only item the really seems to get first place stolen from me is the blue shell, but I usually can recover by the end of the race. However there have been a time or two that I got bombarded right before the finish line and dropped a few places. I really don't think items are as disruptive as people make them out to be.

Looking at the Grand Prix menu there are two rows featuring four cups in each row.  The top row consists of all new courses, the bottom consists of retro courses.  I think there are only 32 courses in the game, in any case, half of those courses are retro courses.  There are also new and retro courses in the battle mode as well.

I'm convinced the computer automatically fires a blue shell any time you're winning in the last lap.

I'm currently using the Wii wheel as I find it pretty fun, but unfortunately I haven't bothered how to figure out how to perform boosts/mini-drifts. Whatever.. I still come in first against the pretty weak AI in this game. :P

This blew me away more than Brawl did.

I wasn't really expecting much from this game, but the courses are really fun. I like how you can have 12 total racers goin. It IS pretty chaotic, but I like this because with MKDD, it was no contest that I would win every race =/

Nintendo FINALLY made an awesome online game. Seeing everyone's Miis is pretty cool, and getting a GOLDEN WHEEL, or the stars next to my user name really keeps me playing. The rankings for each track is awesome, you can check daily who the top 10 is. Only thing missin is voice chat. Nintendo has even put in a mysterious "tournament" choice. Obviously, Nintendo will be hosting tournaments later, but I can't wait to find out the details.

The battle mode...FINALLY CAN I PLAY VS COMPUTERS. And online its even more intense. Funky stadium is insane! Ahhh, this game is awesome, I seriously do not understand those of you who dislike it. MK64 was my favorite, and this might just beat it.

*IF YOU PLAY AGAINST A BLACK HAIRED MII NAMED SEAN, YOU WILL KNOW I SMOKED YA!* =]

This is how I felt about DD at first. But once you start getting good it doesn't matter.

Glad to hear people are liking it. If it's as good as the N64 version, my expectations will be surpassed.

As soon as I get some extra coin, I'm running over to gamestop and picking it up.

I just played it today and found out you CAN do an extra power slide. It's an additional slide after the blue one. So they did leave the option to get a manual turn based on "skill" or whatever.

Yeah, this is pretty fun! I noticed there are a lot of Squid Inks and !st Place shells and stuff, but it's pretty fair. Although, a couple of the new stages I played were dumb in that if you get stuck in a place, it's hard to get out. Also when you fall off the cliff, more people pass you by I think.

Has anyone tried their hand at that tournament/challenge thing yet?  I've no idea how people are getting the times they are but I can't seem move beyond 1m 47s.

Now the tournament thing is kinda stupid. If they wanted it to go as a real tourney, they'd make it a time trial.. even if they add the running chomps.

But yeah, if you take the best time trialing match and get lucky, you can get an insane time.
