Yeah, I don't know, I guess I'm just more forgiving of this type of shit than you guys are. I would never ACTUALLY SEE IT of my own volition, but I sort of appreciate the market for movies that entire families can go see or whatever the fuck, and this definitely strikes me as being a movie someone, somewhere, would earnestly call "fun for the whole family." I don't find it appealing, but I'm not especially offended by it, especially given that I fall well outside of the intended demographic (i.e. people and their children, I imagine). Movies made FOR certain people is a concept that actually annoys me a lot, but I guess I just differentiate between cinema in the artistic sense, and cinema in solely entertaining sense, when it comes to what standards I hold them to.
That's making it sound like I'm saying GOD IT'S JUST MEANT TO BE FUN ENJOY IT *goes to watch xXx: State of the Union" but it's not really what I mean. I'm a little out of it so maybe I'm not articulating myself all that well. I don't like justifying shitty movies about aggressive street dancing and explosions by saying it's just for entertainment and that you should turn your brain off and enjoy it, but I don't think it's fair to judge film made in the pursuit of art or expression by the same standards as a movie made to amuse kids and their parents for ninety minutes, either. I guess I'm pullin a southpark heh......
