Share theories of what will bring about the destruction of mankind, not earth.
Will we die out before earth is destroyed?
Will we die because earth was destroyed?

My personal theory is we will die from earth fighting back.
We have raped this planet and if anything were a parasite, a germ, a virus. We don't fit in here and have no economic purpose to be truthful. Sooner or later were "Gonna dun fuck up" really badly, I'm not saying we will wipe each other out, because in that situation there is almost always a remaining survivor, I mean when earths magnetic field switchs and blows all our electrical equiptment and we are forced to go back to the wild (If that IS where we originated) but oh no, WE DESTROYED ALMOST ALL OF IT! So now we have little food because of all the "sport" hunting and commercial harvesting, And because of the polution most plants at the time will probably be dead. If not there will be barely any left. And most cities won't be habitable anymore because with all our electrical equiptment blown no one can maintane the buildings so soon they will collapse (Look at I am legend or STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl) and now we have very little protection against earths harsh elements since we will have to go back to good ol' shacks instead of houses. And without protection, barely any food, and us without the machines we relied on, we will slowly die. THE END.

I work with a guy who has a new theory literally every month (if not more frequently). He's got a bunker stocked with food, water, gas masks and etc. His new theory is that in two and a half weeks, the world will end. It'll start with widespread disease (he didn't say what).

As for me, I think it'll happen eventually. I'm not sure how, though. There are so many doors, I don't know which to pick. If nothing self-initiated kills us off, an asteroid will eventually.

Well, if the planet is somehow destroyed we will be destroyed with it. If we become exctinct as a species, which is pretty much impossible by natural means(as in, no other species on this planet has shown evidence of evolving into something that is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS to humanity(fyi virii aren't considered living organisms))but very possible if you are thinking of a "meteor rain - radiation kills billions and leaves a disastrous disease behind that kills the rest of the human population(somehow)". If we somehow manage to have developed a way to colonize extrterrestial planets, we might migrate to Mars or one of Jupiter's moons(Europe, anyone) but I really REALLY doubt that we will be able to do that in the near future(200+ years from now).

I should seriously stop reading wikipedia articles and watching sci-fi movies.

I once had a theory that the end of the world happens when we die. Since everyone is limited to their own perspective, maybe the end of the world is just a giant metaphor for our own deaths. It's a weird thought, and a bit ego-centric.

My real question is about December 21, 2012. Supposedly the sun will start a new cycle. A lot of people are saying it's going to be a solar flare of monumental proportions and scorch one side of the planet. The Mayans predicted that the world would end, but it was more so of a change in state. That it would open a new state of mind. Basically, something like Armageddon where a great war/change occurs and Earth has 1,000 years of peace. But the Mayans predicted it was going to be a time of great "awakening" hinting towards great spiritual/psychic growth in people. But then again, everything at this moment is speculation about 2012 -- the Mayans may have just known that the sun's cycle was shifting and attached superstition to it.

I'd have to say that earths resources would become staggeringly low within the next century, forcing us to another planet, or to live in space itself. Wouldn't be surprised if earth became a wasteland after all the pollution, hunting, and clearing of the rain forests..

Who knows. Maybe because I'm too absorbed in my own life to really notice, but the end of our planet isn't even something I can even speculate on. But for the sake of discussion, I'd say we'll wreck our own planet before anything else does, but even then, people don't give the will to survive enough credit; even if we ruin this planet (which is by all means a bad thing), I highly doubt we'll do it without a way to save our own behinds.

Seriously I'm taking a whole class on the end of the world and stuff and it's all like the idea of a messiah came from when the Jews had their homeland taken over by the Syrians or something and it didn't even mean the messiah would save MANKIND at first salvation just meant like, not being controlled by anyone else - having their home saved from invading forces

There's also a strong theory that the idea of purgatory coincides with the middle class and capitalism and stuff - which is pretty funny like once money actually means something significant like you can go from poor to rich in a lifetime, there's suddenly this idea that you can get like GOD POINTS or something - like regardless of whether it's people buying indulgences or just doing GOOD WORKS, it's still like all of a sudden it's a job that you can do good at to get this better house (heaven, or just getting poked with a pitchfork less before you go to heaven)

oh yeah ever notice how the grim reaper with the scythe and the devils with pitchforks and goat's hooves and horns have this FARM imagery to them

It's just really annoying like at the very least I was hoping Christianity was this very imaginative story about something beyond human understanding but it's just like everything on Earth but they made it bigger

Also the early apocalyptic people sounded like total cunts because like they were saying you should be good now because Jesus is coming back in 5 days or something like that - so basically early Christianity sounds like JESUS IS JUST A LITTLE LATE IT'S STILL GOOD IT'S STILL GOOD (like see end of the world was just like the 5-second rule when you drop a donut - as long as it came soon you weren't kooky to eat up the idea of it - but then nothing happened and everyone was like oh shit we'll have to have a LIFE and crap)

Also nobody in the world would ever have a theory that God doesn't give a crap about anyone and still call it a religion - like I'm going to start a theory that God is basically the Big Lebowski and day and night is just when God opens and closes the fridge for a brewski

Edit: Don't take any of this seriously I'm just kind of angry/bored right now - although some of it's worth thinking about maybe?

Edit: Also if your avatar is a dude with really ANGULAR hair and a sword that's taller and heavier than he is people probably won't take you seriously

Ugh, one day I was so pissed off and so I just dedicated it to looking into this Planet X nonsense, and that's exactly what it is. It is promoted (made up) by the same people who also believe that planet X (note: this does not stand for Roman numeral 10) is inhabited by advanced aliens who put implants in their brains (Not a joke you can find it on their sites / in their books). Many people assume that the X does stand for 10 though, and although there are 2 additional dwarf planets out there (Eris and Ceres), they are not in threat of colliding with us at all. Planet X is supposedly called Nibiru, who is also, in Summeria, a god named Marduk. The problem here is the Marduk is fucking Jupiter, not some mystical planet that is way out there. They base a lot of their evidence on outdated and old science (that lacked the ability to explain certain gravitational effects, although there ARE some problems here still) and deserve to be destroyed for doing so. Ok, but now you're saying "What about the Mayans/Babylonians/Sumerians/[Insert ][/Insert]?" Well, the Maya calendar doesn't actually predict any sort of end world catastrophe. What is going to happen though is one of its cycles ends; the baktun cycle which is approx 144,000 days in length. This does not signal an end of the world or any sort of metaphysical transformation. It is as though we made a year 144,000 days long and then started freaking out when the year was almost over.
