Use your fingers to interact with your TV screen (or any surface if you have a projector) a la Minority Report. Bob and weave in an interactive shooting game. Instead of buying a multi-thousand dollar interactive whiteboard, buy a WiiMOTE (don't even need the console). Each description has a video to go along with it, maybe a premium will upload them into the topic (or a mod into this post). If Nintendo starts implementing this stuff soon, they won't just win the console war, they'll pwn it.

Here are the vids:

Posted these because Dark Angel requested it and because some people are too lazy to click a link these days, and these are pretty awesome. I love the Minority Report shit they have going on.

EDIT: Goddamn it, no, the pen one is the best. God damn it.

This stuff is cool but it's not exactly surprising.  It's just a matter of moving IR LEDs around, isn't it?  Unless Nintendo starts marketing the WIIPEN or WIIFINGERGLOVE though it's not going to be a very useful discovery though.

If one was to be used in an actual Wii game, it would probably be the head tracking. I never saw that pen tracking video before, but man that is pretty cool as well.
I love how there's so much damn potential for Wii games out there. Too bad no company implements it into actual games.

Wow, the pen one is pretty amazing. If he could come up with some kinda pressure simulation then I wouldn't have to buy digital tablets.

Steven Spielberg's upcoming Wii game, Boom Blox, will include headtracking as a hidden feature.
Admiral Robert E Lee: From an alternate reality in which the United States is an archipelago and the Civil War is fought at sea.

You obviously have no idea on the complicated electronics and coding behind it

anyway I'm more interested in when they'll finish the wiimote drivers for windows

PS: I'm lying, I'm quite interested in this, I watched the videos and the head tracking one was the coolest thing I've ever seen! I wanna make something with it.

Thanks for uploading those! I wonder if it would be possible (currently) to set up four projectors in a square room with the head tracking, so that way you could have a full 360 degree environment. Or something similar. Throw in a multi-directional treadmill, and hey! We'd have the best VR game yet!

This is ridiculously amazing.

That final video was like...wow.

And that second video, it could turn out to be so useful for schools.
Low cost smartboards. That'd be great.

The minority report looking bit is my favorite of the three up there.  If there was a practical way to implement it it might not be a bad idea to see some games try to use that as a side feature kind of like what Man O War mentioned regarding headtracking in Boom Blox.  Though not technically as impressive, last year's GDC had Miyamoto using the photo channel as a makeshift Power Point presentation for his entire keynote; something I'd like to do in one of my classes these days. :P

Heh, when I first came across the head-tracking. I actually got pissed about Mario Galaxy being already released.

I don't care if it held production back by two years, and it would only work for one player mode, and need an extra controller plus an extra sensor-device for the head, it would still be worth it.

I have heard about projects like this before but I've never seen a demonstration.  Very neat!

The head motion tracking demonstration has me dreaming of a Discs of Tron remake.

Holy shit indeed, we should hopefully see many products and games that take advantage of these techniques, if not from nintendo then SOMEONE who gets it.

Unfortunately, it seems EA pulled the headtracking feature from Boom Blox with no explanation as to why.  Kind of sucks since the team behind BB seemed eager to have it in there as an easter egg of sort so I wonder what went wrong down the line.

There are some games on the PC which support head tracking, I believe.

EDIT: Yes here we go:
