Uwe Boll will quit making movies if this petition reaches one million signatures.

http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/04/06/uwe-boll-will-quit-making-movies-with-one-million-signatures/

I don't know how to make a dropdown window so if anyone wants to edit this go for it:

"Ladies and Gentleman, we finally have a chance to rid the cinematic world of a cancer. Uwe Boll, the German director behind such horrid video game adaptations as House of the Dead, BloodRayne, Dungeon Siege and Postal, has recently admitted that he would retire from making movies if enough people want him to stop. When FearNet mentioned to Boll a petition online signed by 18,000 people requesting that he cease making films, Boll responded that “18,000 is not enough to convince me.” So how much would be enough?

“One million,” Boll said. “Now we have a new goal.”

Indeed, now we have a goal. All we need is 980,000 more signatures on this petition and we can rid the world of future Boll-directed/produced cinematic atrocities. as my friend Scott Weinberg on Cinematical points out, Tunnel Rats, Far Cry, Zombie Massacre and BloodRayne 3 are already in production. So we might not be able to stop those productions. Be we just might have the ability to prevent a BloodRayne 4 or House of the Dead 3. So sign now!"

There is a link to the actual petition in the article above.
Hurry and sign it! I feel that 2008 is a great year for change, we can stop the Iraqi war AND Uwe Boll! WE CAN!
I put this in general because I feel that if more people saw this, Uwe Boll's career may actually end.

Unfortunately, I do not trust him to voluntarily back out, but I am signing this anyways. Perhaps, in some just world, he will stop.

absolutely not!!!!

uwe boll is a wonderful and hilarious man

seriously though, he's the most harmless human being on the planet(except in boxing ring). the film industry isn't any better without uwe boll in it, unlike MANY OTHER PEOPLE who get acclaim and have unreasonable amounts of influence for no fucking reason. i kinda feel bad for the troglodytes who get SO UPSET AT BOLLFILMS, probably as they are on their way to see the NEWEST insert godawful director here EPIC PIECE OF SHIT or whatever. the reality is that we're FUCKING LUCKY to have a 21st century Ed Wood. i don't see how the world is at all fortunate to have JOHN WOO roaming the earth with his pocketful of stupid fucking doves.

anyway, show me a STOP GEORGE LUCAS PETITION and i would have signed it already, because you aren't going to get my name on this trash

Hundley has been drinking again.

EDIT: Actually I better put something else here before I get warned. I really just signed this in hopes that I never have to hear about Uwe Boll ever again. It's not even the man so much (his shit can be avoided) BUT YOU PEOPLE WONT STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM.

what the hell are you guys even talking about?

it's not as if his films are an affront to art. it's just entertainment: you either see his movies or you don't.

i like uwe boll because he's a caricature of a film industry icon, and his life points out how ridiculous/retarded the film industry is.

i can't even wrap my mind around why anyone would think that a genre would be ruined by the work of one man. it's the same sort of retardation which causes people to say that gay marriage violates the sanctity of traditional marriage.

but that's okay. if you're droll enough to think that hollywood movies are worthwhile enough to warrant such outrage then i guess it makes sense that you could hold those crazy ideas.

shine on you crazy diamond

i am actually 100% serious

uwe boll is basically an insignificant BOTTOM FEEDER. that's all he ever was and ever will be. he puts together these sloppy and ridiculous movies(in his defense on very little budget) that nobody gives a shit about except HARD CORE FANS OF BLOODRAYNE and HARDCORE FANS OF MOVIES SO BAD THEY'RE GOOD. the words entirely insignificant should come to mind when thinking about uwe boll, but it somehow doesn't with people. this man has no influence. he has no pull within the medium. all he does is pull together these dreadful movies that get universally ridiculed and ignored.

i find it difficult to avoid comparing uwe boll, somehow public enemy number 1, to all the contemporary iconic film directors that actively fuck up contemporary film through their influence. i'll use quentin tarantino as an example, i guess. the man has only marginal talent at the absolute best, but is CLUNG TO for purely superficial reasons. this wouldn't be that big of a problem but the man ultimately got championed, greatly in part to how he THREW HIMSELF at the world as HEY THIS IS WHAT AMERICAN INDEPENDENT FILM IS. which also wouldn't have been that big of a problem, but the progression of american independent film was irrevocably retarded after all of his stupid goddamn movies lowered the goddamn bar from lots of nobodies making interesting movies to BIG EDGY HOLLYWOOD HARDON where nothing ever got done. it's incredibly fucking sad that we have to rely on GEORGE CLOONEY of all people to be one of the few people to actively go out and try to make american independent film better.

i could go even further and point to totally untalented assholes like george lucas and peter jackson doing everything within their power to make uninventive CGI as a coverup for totally unsubstantial material the standard for filmmaking. fuck, i could make a really long list of these respected directors that are directly responsible for 99% of the movies nowadays being totally shit.

the dangerously counter-productive filmmakers aren't the ones that are laughably bad, but the ones that do identifiable damage to the industry through their stunning lack of talent and accidental influence. the ones that set awful trends that studios and lesser retards blindly follow. film has gotten to the point where MAKING A MOVIE is just alternating between AMAZING CGI and the universal technique of sticking a camera down the throat of MOVIE STAR and just letting them drone through their lines for two fucking hours.

yeah, sorry if i'm not particularly sympathetic to your campaign against uwe boll. getting him to quit directing will do ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD, and if you honestly feel otherwise, then it's clear that you are remarkably uneducated on the subject of film.

ps: i feel sorry for people who cannot sit around and watch an uwe boll film with friends and have their own version of mst3000. like i said, we're lucky to have our own ed wood

I apparently signed this quite awhile ago.  My signature was listed as the 4900th.  Just how old is this petition anyway?

I signed...

Not because I care if he stops making movies or not, but because I'm curious to see what would happen if they actually DID get a million signatures.

I don't think anyone really feels like he's "ruining the film industry." Casual viewers don't usually think on that grand of a scale. I guess people do accuse him of exploiting the game industry, and giving game movies a bad name, but I think that's about as deep as it goes.

Yeah, this is a pretty good point. It's not like he's ruining Halo or something. To be honest, I don't think I've even played any of the games that he's adapted.

Anyway, moving this to film media.

But.. but.. Far Cry..

The only real reason this guy gets so much shit is because people take games to seriously and when they hear a movie being made of the favorite games they want it to be good, have the BEST director, cast, shit like that, but when studios aren't really interested in making them guys like Uwe Boll come along, same shit happened to Alien VS Predator, until Paul WS Anderson took it upon himself to make the movie, it was just sitting their, no one was interested.

He's still a bad director though, and I just don't know how he gets actors like Jason Statham, John Rhys Davies, Christian Slater to star in his movies?

this is horrible and if you sign this then fuck you

not only is uwe boll harmless, but while he gets a ton of shit for it he is doing something he enjoys. He may make terrible movies but he has a passion for film that is apparent when people just talk to him.

i think the real bad people are the people who sign these things (which is obviously serious since boll doesn't joke around (boxing matches any one?)) are the real monsters, all jumping on someone like a pack of tigers just because he's living his dream

Ragnar, it was a joke at how people take game to movies transitions to seriously, great game though haha. I don't particularly like game movies because most games should stay games, although something like Fahrenheit would make an excellent movie!
