So as a favor for my friend's frat fundraising thing, I subscribed to UTNE Reader. I was choosing between that and Seed Magazine and this seemed to have more stuff I wouldn't find online or read about otherwise.

(copy paste from wikipedia)
Utne Reader is an American bimonthly magazine. The magazine collects and reprints articles from generally alternative media sources, including journals, newsletters, weeklies, zines, music, and DVDs. In addition, the magazine’s writers and editors contribute original articles, which tend to focus on emerging cultural trends.

Seed (subtitled Beneath the Surface, then Science Is Culture) is a science magazine published bimonthly by Seed Media Group and distributed internationally. Each issue looks at big ideas in science, important issues at the intersection of science and society, and the people driving global science culture.

So do you guys still have magazine subscriptions? Or has the internet replaced them for you?

Edit: Also what can you tell me about UTNE (did I just waste $15)?

Hey yeah I got that lego magazine too. I should try and find those.

More recently, last year I had a subscription to EW for a while, and it was actually pretty good. Currently I have a subscription to GI, but I don't think I'm gonna renew it when it's up, because I can get the same information online easier, earlier, and for free.

I had a free EGM subscription that came from NOWHERE for a while.  My parents didn't know why we were getting it, and I didn't know, but it was coming to my name and we weren't being charged for it so whatever.  It wasn't from Gamestop or anything.  After a year it ran out and I didn't renew it.  Also around the time I first got Pokemon I subscribed to Nintendo Power for many years.  My brother got the LEGO magazine too, and I'd read it.  As of right now I don't have any subscriptions, but I wish I did.  I've started semi-collecting (I guess you could say PASSIVE collecting) old gaming magazines after finding some early 90's Gamepro magazines my brother had.  Damn, those are good magazines, they still had plenty of ads but the non-ad pages were FULL of information.  I use them to find out about older games I should play, or just to kind of laugh at how mindblowing the rumored new Nintendo 64-bit system is supposed to be.

I buy Wired sometimes when I'm in the grocery store.   :fogetnaughty:

I have free EGM and a GI from gamestop.  I also have a free subscription to Game Developer magazine because they think I'm an independent game dev company, and Popular Mechanics, which I actually paid for.

This, but EGM sucks big time though.

I'd much prefer a subscription to GI or Nintendo Power, but I just cannot get myself to put down the money for one.

I had a Game Informer subscription for along time, like 3 or 4 years straight. It was the perfect magazine to leave by the toilet, which is all I really want a magazine for anyway. I don't have it anymore, though. I like that magazine a lot, though. At least, I used to. I dunno how they are now.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

My very first magazine was LEGO MAGAZINE, great mag. I'm also in one of the photos in one of the jungle adventure whatever issues when I was around 4th grade.

I've been a subscriber to Game Informer since issue 99, and also I'm currently going through a free EGM. Back when I was a japfag I had Shonen Jump, but that shit eventually annoyed me. I also used to periodically purchase issues of Newtype. I also used to purchase Wizard Magazine, but that ended up adding a few dollars to all my comic purchases, plus they're free at comic conventions.

Yeah i also used to subscribe to the lego mag, even when I stopped paying I got like 4 years worth totally free. Now I tend to subscribe to comics so I don;t forget to order them. I was gunna subscribe to Edge and Pcgamer but meh They're like £6 each and I can't afford that.
Just started getting Wizard imported from my local comicstand though.

I used to subscribe to a boy scout magazine, but that was a while ago. I also subscribed to Game Informer for a short while. Now I am subscribed to Mensa, and Scientific American. I also love to purchase magazines from the store(especially Barnes and Noble), and I probably do so more often than I receive them in the mail.

Used to subscribe to SONIC THE COMIC (hell yes) and uh... some n64 stuff that was alright but not great.

Been subbing PC Zone for about 5 years now and still do, it's rad.

I think I have a free GI subscription, but since I'm in college, away from my home mailing address (which is what I gave when I got the card along with the subscription), I assume all of the issues are going to my brother at home. Oh well.
