what was it like man, ive often wondered about doing that sort of thing. what was the worst part, best part? what did you do mostly?
well the job itself isn't that bad. I mostly just stood watch on the bridge 8 hours a day and anything else was overtime. On watch I basically walked around and looked at the radars and shit, supposed to tell the mate if I see anything that could run into us. For overtime I would mostly do maintenance on the ship.
The worst part was really just the people, most of the mates were stupid as hell. The chief mate was the most incompetent person I've ever met (and this isn't just a disgruntled seamen talking) the captain was worried about trivial shit all the damn time. And our union representative, the bosun was a complete asshole. I'm pretty sure I was just stuck on one of the worst ships in the union though.
lesson learned...
you'd bet your ass I'm not sailing with that contract again.
I'm just gonna throw this one out there: Is it true that seamen get lots of bum?
Not really, none of the Japanese hookers can fuck Americans because they "cause too much trouble" can't blame them though...
