I have a plan for the music forum.


Every week we are going to make a weekly discussion of some sort in this forum.


Currently it's just me and thecatamites as many of the other people I've asked are busy or don't have anything at the moment to speak about.


I'm planning to get a small amount of people together and then we each take a turn creating a discussion topic in this forum once a week.
For examples of the type of topics I am talking about check these topics: http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=5378.0  and http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=5288.0 

It doesnt have to be about just a genre by the way either, it can be about anything which gets people talking.  This doesn't mean you can't make other topics! Just don't label them as TOTW (topic of the week) unless that is what you intend.


I have no problem with just me and thecatamites taking weekly turns but I'm extending this offer in case a few others are interested?


The only major criteria you have to fill in making these topics is that a)the topic is well written, b) it's interesting and you make some effort.

(also a mod may want to sticky this)

Also, I was wondering what you guys thought about a general recommendation topic. You know, just somewhere for someone to ask for some recs and such incase they don't want to start a topic or something.

Well dude that topic you sent me was really good so your definately in. The recommendation topic is definately a good idea and something we could work on as well.

Ok thats five of us, I'll probally leave this open for a few more days and limit it to TWO MORE PEOPLE MAX.


Unless someone just wants to do a one off topic and not be regularly scheduled that is cool as well.

I think mine might be better as an off-topic since its just about one band. Plus. compared to the stuff you and catamites have, I'm not sure if its Totw material as it is just like a simple thread about the band.

Alright Couch just signed up so we have one more regular.

One more person to do regular topics and we are full. Other people as stated before can do some one off stuff too if they like.

So when the team is assembled (so to speak), will there be some kind of roster set up?

Ok guys heres the schedule, there shouldnt be any problems since its pretty basic!

We are going to run a new topic every sunday. I'm putting Smoothy/Tomohawk Joe on the first week as they seemed really keen to do one together and Tomohawk asked first SO MAKE IT GOOD GUYS ​.

Heres in the order in which we are going to take turns:


TomohawkJoe/Smoothy - First Week (this sunday)
Adeline- Week After
Couch- Week after that
The Catamites- Next
Me- Next.


And then the cycle repeats (except smoothy/tomohawk will probally have seperate topics) so anyway expect to do a topic every 6 weeks.
I know this seems like a long wait for some of you but this doesn't stop you from making topics in here ya know!
I will also be sending a pm to each member a few days before their TOTW in case they may have forgotten or whatever.



Any questions/ideas feel free to share them here. Like I was thinking if some of you guys have a problem with waiting too long perhaps you can come up with a remedy for that.
<Plus you'll find after you first few topics you might not be so eager so it might be good to have a long break between topics ya know?

Further TOTW Applications have now closed If anyone else wants to contribute you'll probally have to settle for being a one off TOTW writer and not a regular cause it just gets ridiculous with too many people!

I sent my half to smoothy already. If he takes to long I'll just go ahead and post it.

Steel, I think the reason he wants the weekly topics deal is because that will give people time to write up something worth discussion and shit. If anything, it at least guarantees a new topic every week. I remember were we wouldn't get topics for a shit load of days and it was just two or three topics getting like, a post every other day. Plus, he said we can post other topics besides that. I get were your coming from though. Posting more topics would just allow for more discussion and shit without having to wait a week or so... You just gave me an idea.

because this is just for totws, ive still got heaps of topics im gunna post but its nice that we have a discussion DEFINATELY once a week, i think if its organised and people take turns it'll last longer too. just a cool thing to do i guess, i think its already making the music forum more active.

I kinda agree with steel. I mean, most of the post in the threads so far have been by the same people. We have garnished almost no attention from GW as a whole, OH GAWD MUSIC IS BECOMING THE NEXT LIT!!!! Quick, someone post a PT topic, that'll get things started.

hmm, you might be right, but I have to wonder how many of them are just people already invested in the TOTW idea who have been posting here to begin with. look at overall topics and there's little post or topic increase.

Well I'm gunna stick with this TOTW idea because I like it but I think you could also be right. Perhaps a few mainsite articles could help?

Don't forget it has only been a week and a bit, topics which are actually worthwhile are being made other than just "WHAT SONG WULD U LIEK PLAYED AT YOUR NEXT OFFICEPARTY?

I have two topic ideas on my brain at the moment. One for TOTW and I'll probally make another hiphop one with different artists once the current one dies down.
