Seven years ago, Cartoon Network began airing an emmy-award winning masterpiece of animation known as Samurai Jack. Directed by the Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of Dexter's Laboratory, it definitely has one of the most unique art styles I've seen so far. This is one of my favorite animated TV series because of its style, action, and characters.

For some reason, production halted in 2004--it was never officially canceled, after all. It was recently featured as number 42 on the documentary 100 Greatest Cartoons (imo too low, but at least it answers lue. some of this list is shit, anyways) and a feature film that will end the series is being planned right now by Frederator films, though not yet in production.

There's a wikipedia article for the uninformed.

Since I never had cable and therefore no access to Cartoon Network, I was introduced to Samurai Jack by my (flash) animation teacher last semester when he showed us the premier movie. I was really awestruck at the style and was immediately hooked. I've went through the first season and am going through the second right now.

My favorite episodes so far have been "Jack Learns to Jump Good","Jack and the Scotsman, Part I", and "Jack and the Blind Archers."

Anyways, I was just wondering what everyone else thinks about it. Maybe some of Tartakovsky's other works, too--I rather enjoyed Clone Wars, too.

I love Samurai Jack and I recommend Jack and the Zombies (episode 30 I think) to anyone who wants to see fucking stunning animation. It's kind of PULP but it's good to burn some time on!

I beleive Adult Swim just recently took a vote if people wanted to it come back on air (re-runs) and it was suppose to, but thats was when I kinda kept going out the weekend (still do) so I'm never around at 1am to see adult swim anymore.

it comes on during toonami right before adult swim starts(thats 10:30 here)

Anyways, yeah, one of my favorite shows.  I really like the dark ninja vs light ninja(Jack) fight, but its generally a really awesome show.

holy shit i forgot about this show completely.  i'm totally going to torrent it or something!  like steel said it was pretty PULPY but it embraced it and ended up being a pretty cool atmospheric kids' show for that.

For a cartoon that aired on cartoon network, this is pretty awesome. I do not see why it is stuck on a kids channel but oh well. It's art style is what wowed me the most and also all of the past/future type of action. Clone Wars was incredible too!

yeah i've got it on dvd, i think they might have broken it up into episodes and screened it normally though

i think they used the same budget for a single episode for the whole movie. the animation and sound is awful

also in the series i like how every humanoid thing always turns out to be robotic or an insect when it's destroyed

Well, I doubt you have a legit copy of the movie, because from my sources--it hasn't even come out yet. It's not even yet in production. It may be awful because it's a fan-made fake.

Samurai Jack is pretty awesome. I didn't like it at first(lol teen) but about three years ago I started liking it. If you like the fluid animation, I'd recommend checking out the Star Wars clone wars cartoon. The animation is very similar style and it's all in five minute chunks, so the pace and directing is absolutely hillarious (whatoutthere'saboBOOOM!!!!! killthejediKAPOW)

the bonus movie is the introduction of the scotsman, which i'd rather watch than the actual movie

also ahahahaha clone wars. it's the same style but... unwatchable imo

That's the Premier Movie, which is actually just the first three episodes of Samurai Jack; it's not the actual movie that is planned to end the series.

I loved this show, and I still do I guess but haven't seen any of it recently. I was pretty disappointed when they stopped making them. One of my favorite episodes was the one where Jack had to race another guy, I think, to get to a treasure inside a pyramid. Also, where he teams up with a couple mobsters to free the 'water crystal' from a temple, from a couple elemental-monsters, so the town could have water. Awesome stuff.

I love Samurai Jack! It's one of my favourite shows, probably my most favourite out there, but I've seen very little of it. I'll torrent it one of these days.

I used to like Samurai Jack (back when I had Cartoon Network) until I saw the "Jump Good" episode for the 20th time in about a month. Reruns...they do that to you.
