Yeah man I just munch them on the way to school/work wherever but I'm no good at cookin' em so I also am really interested in what type of foods you can create using dandelions.

A Dandelion milkshake perhaps? Dandelion stew?

Dandelions are grown commercially on a small scale as a leaf vegetable. The leaves (called dandelion greens) can be eaten cooked or raw in various forms, such as in soup or salad. They are probably closest in character to mustard greens. Usually the young leaves and unopened buds are eaten raw in salads, while older leaves are cooked. Raw leaves have a slightly bitter taste. Dandelion salad is often accompanied with hard boiled eggs. The leaves are high in vitamin A, vitamin C and iron, carrying more iron and calcium than spinach.[4]

Dandelion flowers can be used to make dandelion wine, for which there are many recipes.[5] It has also been used in a saison ale called Pissenlit (literally "wet the bed" in French) made by Brasserie Fantôme in Belgium. Another recipe using the plant is dandelion flower jam. Ground roasted dandelion root can be used as a coffee substitute. Dandelion root is a registered drug in Canada, sold principally as a diuretic. A leaf decoction can be drunk to "purify the blood", for the treatment of anemia, jaundice, and also for nervousness. Drunk before meals, dandelion root coffee is claimed to stimulate digestive functions and function as a liver tonic. "Dandelion and Burdock" is a soft drink that has long been popular in the United Kingdom with authentic recipes sold by health food shops. It is unclear whether cheaper supermarket versions actually contain extracts of either plant.

Dandelion brewski anyone?

In all seriousness, back in middle school we had dandelion cookies for Home Ec, and before then we knew dandelions were edible, so as a kid I gave it a shot. Not something I'd go out of my way to eat, but they don't taste bad.

the wine isn't bad, but i really can't see myself eating raw dandelion greens....or cooked for that matter. sometimes paying for food is worth it.

Once I saw this old trailer that was all sealed up and stuff...and I was totally bored so I got my hammer and broke into the fucking trailer and you know what I found? Beer from fucking 1999! Thats like Bat Fuck Insane right? So I drank one of the bottles and the next thing I know I was vomiting all over the place....(BTW the beer was cold cause i live in a place where its always cold otuside)

Anyways its kinda irrelevant but I'm just saying..if you ever see some old abandoned trailer you might find some good shit in there...

wouldn't it be pretty unhealthy eating dandelions that grow out of the soil in urban areas? I find it strange that dok like won't eat cooked meat because of carcinogens or whatever but doesn't seem to mind eating grass from polluted soil (unless he happens to live in the woods or on a farm or something).

you'd think so! but since dok has a complete disregard for anything logical or factual this isn't that surprising

I have clear memories of picking dandelions and eating the stems as a child riding my wagon... I didn't know they were edible... I was just nasty...

Yeah dudes I didn't see this until today.  I don't see what you guys think is so weird about this.  Our ancestors were hunter-gatherers so they did pretty much the same thing.  Men go out and hunt, woman gather edibles like roots and berries and shit.  I'd much rather eat a salad full with dandelions that I can get in my backyard rather than pay 1.99 (or however much it is) to buy a bag full of iceberg lettuce when I can get shit for free.  It's the way it was intended yo.  The world sucks when our basic necessity (food) is put under lock and key and owned.

I don't live in a really heavy populated city and I do not eat dandelions that grow within ten feet from the road.  I mostly pick my dandelions in the field by my house which is not next to the road.

Pretty soon I will be able to get mulberries and crab apples :)

Also yeah I drink teas made from shit like Dandelion roots, Burdock roots, Cat's Claw bark, Devil's Claw roots, Blessed Thistle, Nettle...etc

Sometimes I graze, when I don't want to shell out a couple bucks for take-out. The rabbits started using my spot, though, so I'm considering pissing all over it to show them who's who. Y'know, territorial stuff.

Anyways yeah how do they taste? Raw, or cooked, or what?
