I don't think I could ever room with guys... at least, not easily. Even my good guy friends from high school. To me, it would just be awkward and weird and exceedingly messy. But, hey, if it's an option, and people want to do it, then by all means, they should go with it. It's not like you have to get a co-ed dorm room (there are options, right?) so I don't see why it's such a big deal to parents.

Hey, I'm going to the University of Pennsylvania... but I doubt I'll ever take up this option (I don't think my parents will have a problem with coed dorm rooms existing, though). But, jeez, can't a straight girl and a straight guy ever just be friends? According to the woman in the article, such a thing is impossible. Somebody needs to tell these parents that some kids do stuff besides sex. Shocking, isn't it?

Thats A little harsh but i agree somewhat.  I mean if you have a boy and girl sharing the same dorm then temptation will always play a part. I guarantee you 90% of the time it will lead to sexual relations or rape.

When I went to visit my ex in her dorm none of the girls there cared that I was staying with her. Like, at all. We were all hanging out in their common room together and shit. Ever her RA didn't care. I know I was only visiting, but it's not like it was in any way hard for me to go spend time with her in her all-girl dorm, so it's not like anyone at all couldn't have got in there and had sexual intercourses with her like I did!

My point is this: Putting a locked door between a boy and a girl isn't going to stop them from having sex, and putting an unlocked door between them isn't going to force them to do it. Generally speaking, you're a lot less likely to have sex with someone you have to fucking live with (assuming you are not going out) then some random person with whom there are no consequences.

Once again I think this comes down to crazy religious folk not realizing how people actually interact at all. "If we tell people they can't do it it'll mean they'll want to do it less, right guys?!"

I'm really glad we don't have dorms on campus here because having to live with a boatload of girls would be tempting as fuck.

This topic is why I don't bother with most of the world today. I don't put myself above them like an ass, but honestly speaking, I don't want anything to do with the general public. It seems as though people with decency and moral values are either called "crazy religious people" or "close-minded." As always, people will do what they want to do, such as pretending a straight male can live with a straight woman without any sexual tension, or the fact that cohabitation is alright in the first place, but hey, whatever.

All I'm going to say is, a guy shouldn't be trusted with that kind of self control.
